TMT has a point. Whilst the ref didn't help there really is no excuse for surrendering a 4 goal lead. Even if Alfreton Town were 4-0 up against Real Madrid, I'd expect them to win.

There's obviously a big weakness in the Reading team isn't there? I also feel that there's a weakness in Spurs especially as we didn't capitalize on a two goal lead after 39 minutes. Thanks DL.
I believe he thought Reading would win the game anyway so just didn't adhere to the rules. At that point Reading were 4-2 up with little time left. Had it been a game-changer I believe he would have sent Koscielny off that's what I meant in particular about unprofessional, but cowardly (as you put it) is more appropriate.
Reading are crap at the back and don't offer enough protection to their defence in midfield. I'm not convinced by Frederici either, despite us being linked with him in the past.
They also lack confidence, as they've been beaten up a bit since their promotion.
We've got a few problems, but against Southampton I think it was a mixture of complacency, as the first half had been so easy, them upping their game and a lack of real offensive options from the bench.
The additional game in the week probably didn't help, either.
That's a good point. As SAF said, if the ref had played the correct amount of stoppage time v Spurs.......

They were unlucky against Chelsea. So complacency is a weakness PNP and maybe that's the weakness I'm trying to find.
I said the same thing when we drew 3-3 with United last season. Many blamed the ref solely but I refused. Some people just can't see the bigger picture. There is obviously something wrong when you are conceding 6 goals at home in just 1.5 halves of football and 7 in total to a side (currently 5th with their 2nd string).
I'd bet that if Swindon Town conceded 7 goals to Villa (or anyone) tonight. Di Canio would have them in training the next day wringing their necks and pointing out the mistakes. They made Arsenal look like Bolton, Stoke or Wimbledon of the late 80s from Set Pieces out there tonight. I could be wrong but I don't remember Arsenal scoring any goals from set pieces so to have conceded 2/3 and made Walcott look like Messi-lite is borderline criminal in my book.
I said 4 weeks ago Reading won't win a single PL game this season and nothing has changed my mind on that. I just don't see where the win is coming from. If your 4-0 up at home to a young side extremely low on confidence and can't win, when will you ever win?
Although it was only Reading, credit has to go to Arsenal (in particular Walcott) who never gave in. If the first team show the kind of grit and determination Walcott showed tonight they just might get something at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Spot on District. All credit to the goons(yech) but you can't always blame the ref. I think that you and City have a defensive weakness or two to iron out.
Luke,as DL said some people can't see the bigger picture and he pointed out that he could see the weaknesses in his team. Chelsea's defence were absent against Man U and they can't afford to continue like that all season. It's just a matter of recognizing weaknesses and after last week's match against Saints we have them and I want them ironed out.

Well I think tonight's result can send a warning to the other teams in this comp about Arsenal and their intentions.
I don't. The winner of Chelsea/United would easily put them out and Villa would have a chance as well. Although I believe Arsenal's Strongest XI is stronger than yours ever so slightly I reckon your 2nd string is comfortably better than theirs. Not a chance of Arsenal winning it IMO, unless they play their best XI which I can't see Wenger doing.
Is that the intention to stroll about in the first half and concede 4 goals against a team languishing at the bottom of the table in one half of football? Or to actually play for the shirt? Most teams in the Prem and a lot in the Championship, would have defended that lead. How anybody can be happy that they conceded 5 goals to Reading who have only scored 11 in 9 league games is a mystery to me. Feel lucky you got away with it, yup; But to be patting themselves on the backs after that fiasco? Their level of expectation is in the basement.

What?conciding 5 to Reading,if they had done that against a decent side ,there is no way they would have got back.the only chance they have of winning it is to play their 1st eleven.
It was an amazing game, I turned it off at 4-5 because I can't bear watching Arsenal win, but if I was an Arsenal fan I'd be going on and on about what an incredible game it was. To come back from 4-0 down away from home, whooh, doubtless at least one record was broken in that match.
Shame the ref's watch got broken, Reading must be gutted. Koscielny should have been sent off as well.

To come back from 4-0 down to win 5-7 and you lads don't think that that tells us something? It was a good achievement to come back from so far down surely....no? Doesn't it say that they won't give up if they fall that far behind? Won't any team or supporters fear an Arsenal comeback if they're 2-0 down for instance remembering the Reading match? I think so.
a good team 4-0 up will win,Reading can't close a game like good teams can,so against them you alway's have a chance,Arsenal's youngsters won't get very far.
