Palace seem to be playing better recently. Could be interesting last day for the Gooners. As long as City don't screw it up v Bournemouth tomorrow.

Another match, another crap ref.

More ammo for the conspiracy lot in here
Coincidences do happen. They just happen to some people more than others!! <laugh>

But something has to be done about the lack of consistency and just outright appalling officiating.
Last nights example is almost unintelligible. It is inconceivable that neither the ref and/or VAR were not well aware of those previous high profile incidents where a red was given this season in those exact (some would say lesser) circumstances.
If they weren't aware then frankly WTAF are they doing being paid at the highest level?
All officials make mistakes, but PL officials seem to make the most questionable ones despite having amazing resources on hand to assist them.

Maybe the time has come for the PL to recruit outside of the UK: identify the best officials in Europe (or further afield) and offer them great contracts. Not only would the standard hopefully improve but it would also help to eliminate bias or at least the perception thereof.

It's interesting reading Kieran Maguire's analysis of what relegation would cost West Ham (£100m). Stands in stark contrast to how much it would cost us (£270m) and only serves to underline the sheer difference in size and commercial reach between the two clubs.

The level of arrogant incompetence required to burn the ridiculous amount of money that we have in the last 10 years and to have become so utterly ****, is close to being professional negligence.

No other club would have made the appallingly ridiculous decisions that Levy & Co did over a decade, one after another, after another...

The wanton destruction of something so prepped for success still leaves me staggered...and I knew it was happening in real time.

The refs are consistent

Arsenal have 0 red cards and have conceded 0 penalties this season, which is in line with the clean and sportsmanlike football...

I doubt this is a revelation for most on here, but I was looking at squad valuations on transfermkt - mainly to see how Leeds looked.

In general there’s a good correlation. Wolves and Burnley are the only clubs with squads worth under £300m, and look where they are. Leeds and W Ham at around 350m should be vying for the 3rd relegation squad - so on that basis Farke has done pretty well for us to be in 14th.

What set me back on my heels was the valuations for the 3 team below us: palace (£541m) and Forest (£568m) look to have underperformed quite a bit.

I can’t comment on the other team below us as there’s obviously a typo, it has them with the 5th most valuable squad in the Prem on over £800m. Can’t be right.

Not that valuable in the doctors office.

That is very much an historic valuation figure! <laugh>
You could realistically halve that at this stage, although I'm sure there are many sufferers on here who would suggest dropping a zero would be more accurate! <doh>

When VAR was introduced I was surprised to find the same refs rotate in and out of that job. I assumed before introduction that it was a specialist discipline (and still do). So I very much welcome the idea of getting the best officials in full stop. More importantly, I think VAR *must* be separated from the on field officials, so that there can be no opportunity to be kind to those on field, knowing the roles may be reversed next week. And even if that does not have an impact on decisions, there must not be the *suspicion* that it does. Plus if the VAR officials were a separate bunch with a more specific set of skills, we may get more consistency in when (and when it does not) intervene.

EDIT: .... and of course consistency about what constitutes a red card. Unfortunately, since Stephen Hawking is no longer available for VAR, there will still be no chance of working out what a handball is.

Does anyone find it strange City are going for Maresca if Gaurdiola leaves. I know Chelsea are set up to fail but he was not very impressive imo.

The theory is The Sheikh Mansour Team are going to get utterly blattered by points deductions in the summer

Which has nothing whatsoever to do with PGMOL seemingly trying to midwife any other team to the title to avoid the awkwardness of having our own Calciopoli

Are you saying West ham and us are already safe?
