Three teams between us and the bottom three. We’re as close to mid-table as we are relegation. Couple of wins in the next few games and looks completely different starting Tuesday.
Been sayimg it for a while, we are in a relegation fight.
A team regularly gets sucked into the relegation battle and we are that team.
We only perform in parts of games, give away sloppy goals, lose our discipline and can not buy a league win.
The club is acting like we can coast through the rest of this season and regroup in the summer ... that strikes me of arrogance tbh.
6 years of some very poor signings, very poor managerial choices, knee jerk reactions and no clear plans as to our identity as a club (look at Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth, all coped with players and managers being poached and still continue to keep their footballing identity).
Poor management can not go on without consequences

bearing in mind we’ve won… what.. 2 league games since October? I would say it’s a great chance.

It's likely caused entirely by injuries. If you have the sixth best squad and half of them are injured the ones remaining are likely to finish in the bottom half
We were never in danger of beong relegated last season .. the bottom three were all relegated by the last week in March and were in all honestly were relegated by new years day.
However this season it is real relegation battle ... I dont think that it can all be put down to injuries either...Wolves hadn't won a game when they came to whl but were a minute away from beating us...Bournemouth hadn't won in 12 games til we lost to them, West ham hadn't won in 10 before they beat us and Burnley who hadn't won in 11 were within 2 or 3 minutes of beating us.
The last game we won was against palace in December.

I think you're right.
The big difference last season was the weakness of the bottom three. Just had a quick look at the table and Leicester (18th) got 25 points all season. West Ham currently have 23 and there are 13 games still to play. They'll comfortably surpass that total.
Fundamentally the real worry is that we don't have a squad that is built for a relegation scrap. Beyond Palhinha, Gallagher and Simons, I wouldn't want any of them fighting my corner when my back is against the wall.
The rest of them couldn't really give a toss if we went down as in their minds, they're far too good for the Championship so they'll be snatched up by a PL club again in the summer anyway.
I don't think people realise how thin the ice is at the moment.
West Ham and Leeds both play on Tues night (United H and Chelsea A respectively), which means we could be 16th and 3pts above West Ham before kick off on Wednesday.
And if we lose to Toon and Forest beat Wolves at home (which they should), we will be above Forest on GD only.
I have never been this worried about relegation, and I grew up watching us in the 90s.
We also play on Tuesday, or I hope we do as I've booked my train ticket!!
I'd agree though this situation is not getting the levels of concern it fully deserves. I do feel this will be a pivotal week.

Drat. I had it down as Wednesday.
I will now have to rearrange my week's plans so that I have something on Tuesday that will prevent me suffering through the game.
