It isn't. The referees make loads of mistakes in real time and VAR corrects about 90% of the important ones while adding a few additional mistakes. So the consequence of VAR is that fewer mistakes are made and that has to be a good thing.

However the Laws could be changed to make it much easier for referees. Forbid players from appealing for example.

Goal line and offside decisions are black and white so VAR all other decisions are opinion and showing incidents slow motion alters perceptions . In these situations VAR just spoils the game.

Most VAR decisions are entirely obvious and correct. The few that are not are not the issue. Hard cases make bad law.
