The thing about Maldini is that he was a defender. So when there is a debate about the greatest players ever, he won’t feature in the final analysis because he didn’t score goals. His qualities are immeasurable by the criteria of most pundits. The ability to read the game, be in the right place at the right time and organise the defensive unit he was in charge of are intangibles, which are overlooked when these debates take place.
A great player.

There's also the bitter irony that Italy failed to win amy of the four World Cups he played in - then won the first one after his international retirement
 
Bellingham to Madrid's been given the here we go by Fab after Ornstein broke the news.

Was hoping Dortmund would drag it out a bit as it gives Madrid the whole summer window now to work on a particular striker :(

There's also reports that is just their starting bid. Madrid generally end up getting their man, as we've found out in the past.

If they do go all in on getting Kane, we'll lose him. But thankfully it's the least painful club to lose him too, albeit it'd still be incredibly painful.
 
Messi looks like he's rejected a $1bn offer to go Saudi and also rejected a possible return to Barca, seems he's Inter Miami bound.

Thought he might have done a last dance or so at Barca before taking the retirement contract.

I’m a bit concerned about it though Kane has given few indications he wants to move abroad. I’d be interested in the idea of shopping Richarlison to them - he’s enough of a glamour signing as Brazil’s #9 that it might be interesting to the club, and they only really need a striker for a year or two because they’ll probably get Mbappe or Haaland within the next 2 summers anyway.

I'd offer them for Richarlison for free if it meant they left Kane alone, I'd happily take that £60m hit if it meant keeping Harry.

But I do believe that Kane would move abroad for Madrid and only Madrid. It sounds like he's rejected Bayern's interest whilst I don't think France appeals to him either but there's always something about Madrid that realistically no player ever says no to. Biggest club on the planet and the chance to be their headline Galactico of the summer? It's a dream scenario for just above every single player.

Yeah that’s what concerns me about specifically Madrid’s interest.
