The turnaround on GD nay end up saving Spurs,
but now comes the real PL test for Conte as a manager.
I thought a worse example of rolling over was what the PL did when they cowardly allowed our game against Arsenal to be postponed.

On balance probably a good appointment, but you can only say probably because he hasn't managed in one of the big leagues, and the players he's dealt with have not been "big" players. So very different at ManU!
He's also been around for a while so many top jobs have come and gone without him being appointed. That may mean something, may not. Point is that there are no sure things. On one hand if he can bring his Ajax style to ManU then he will be a success. On the other hand if the players remain the same assholes they currently are then it won't be. I wonder how this will be presented by the media? I remember most pundits thinking Ragnick was a good appointment, so wonder if this lack of proper critique will also seep into their views on this appointment?
Remember though, ManU deserve to be in the top 4 at minimum. (Bollocks of course, but that's what skews a lot of pundits opinions before they even start to "analyse", or whatever they actually do.)
Probably their most sensible appointment since Moyseh tbh bit the league has moved on since then.
Logic dictates Ten Hag should be given time and lots of it, but next season there is every chance he will be walking into a notoriously tough league that just got even tougher. City and Pool are miles ahead of the rest - that isn't changing overnight. I expect the new Chelsea owners (whoever it ends up being) to make a bit of a show and sanction another £200m spend in the summer just for the bantz.
But beyond that is where it could get tricky for him and United. If Conte stays and we keep hold of Kane, I expect us to kick on next year. I also think West Ham will take another step forward. Bruno Lage should improve Wolves after a very impressive debut season. And I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal spend big too and come back stronger next year. Then there's Newcastle who will without doubt be one to look out for.
So that's almost half the league posing serious headaches for Ten Hag. It's all well and good saying he needs time but it isn't unthinkable to bet they'll finish 8th or 9th in his first season before starting to turn the corner. Will he be given a second season in that event?
Anyhow, I'm intrigued to see how he does given that his greatest achievement to date is blowing a 3-0 lead in the CL semi final against a depleted Spurs team.

I hope that he adapts to the Premier League as well as Frank de Boer.
CL qualification is a big deal for them.
Apart from the obvious revenues, I recall some Man Utd supporters
telling us their sponsor revenues are also graduated by which
UEFA competition level they are competing. in
Dunno how badly it affects their transfer/wage budgets once
the Glazer debt repayments are taken.

In his defence, even Pep the messiah cannot prevail when

I think that their kit sponsorship takes a big hit if they don't make it this season.

Same situation applies as with them lot (albeit a much
larger mountain to chip away given Man Utd were the empire) :
Consistently keep them out of the CL places,
and their revenue streams will wither to the point
where they cannot compete in the market on
the transfer/wage fee front.
Which he doesn't pay tax on, due to bunking off to Switzerland at the earliest opportunity while claiming it was to spend more time with his friends and family

I know we're mainly talking about ManU at the moment, but the Chelsea thing is so much of an unknown quantity. I've said it before but I can't fathom how Chelsea are worth some of the figures being banded about, since surely they can't be worth that much more than the players on their current contracts? Nevertheless I would be surprised if the new owners, particularly if American, will be as generous as the previous criminal. After all, some have done takeovers by dumping a lot of new debt on the club they get [rubs hands together]. If they do turn out to be as generous then surely something else dodgy is going on? I say something *else* because we can be sure that something is dodgy in all of these proposals. That is dodgy on top of the idea that it appears the huge loan to Cheski is never going to be repaid, which means it was never a loan, and yet somehow doesn't break FFP.
Fact is Chelsea makes less money over and above their wages than most, so how are the new owners going to address this, particularly if they initiate a lot of new spending?
