Yeah, potters one of those "up and coming" excellent managers. And not in the same way as eddie howe whose sides just played the. All nicely at the back but really the bulk of their goals was on the counter with quick and big players.

Potters sides actually play it around nicely and probe well

He was the manager of choice for many if us, winning the vote set up by DH by a country mile.

I still think someone like Conte would command greater respect, work better with Paratici and galvanise pretty much the whole fan base, but in all honesty right now he is a pipe dream whose requirements we simply cannot afford.

I've been hugely impressed with Brighton since Potter took over. Like you've said, they absolutely battered us twice last season. Bale stole a win for us at home but they beat us away.

As PNP says, it is a bit concerning that they struggle to score goals. They were well above us for chances created last season but we scored almost 30 more goals than them.

I'm of the opinion that Potter coaching players like Kane and Son would produce devastating results, but i do respect fans who see that as a concern and sticking point.

The level has dropped so far that right now, I’d be so happy if Spurs got Potter as manager (tbf I’d take Harry Potter right now) even though I didn’t see him as a viable replacement for Mourinho and there is still that risk that he couldn’t take that next step up.

Obviously I’d prefer Conte if there was any chance but I think that ship has sailed now. He will be a huge contender for the soon to be vacant Man Utd post and must be aware of that.

There was some ragebait in the Torygraph's hit piece the other day about how Potter turned us down because he feared the damage we would do to his growing reputation

One, that's bollocks as we were put off by the £20m compo package which, let's be honest here, was a steep cost for somebody whose best Premier League finish is in 15th

Secondly, that's bollocks because if the last couple of decades demonstrate more than anything else it's that managers with reputations who tend to crash and burn horrifically, not those with growing reputations
Graham, Santini, Ramos and the ubermensch (and technically Villas-Boas) had reputations and they Hinderburged like you wouldn't believe
Jol, Redknapp and Poch were managers whose reputations were either under the radar or growing when we hired them and their reputations grew with us

Realistically the managers who should be running away from us like we were a plague-ridded pack of feral hogs are the likes of Conte, Valverde, Zidane etc etc because they're the ones who are likely to smack their head on the glass ceiling that they assume they'd already be above - which is exactly what happened with Ramos and the ubermensch

Depends if you think hes the right man. If hes the guy that can:

1. Get your stars playing well again, thats millions saved from having to buy loads of players.

2. Get you back in the CL, thats 80m? already.

If nuno is sacked soon thats compo you are going to have pay out as well as hire a new manager.

20m for potter now looks like a steal (if it even was 20m)

Honestly, it still doesn't look like a steal now - it might look like a steal in February-March, but at this point in seasons past there were people on Old606 talking up Phil Brown or Owen Coyle as potential managers based on the results of the first half dozen or so games

It has to be said that, ever since people started really fixating on Potter in the last 2-3 weeks Brighton's results have started to peter out with draws against Palace and Arsenal - and it does have to be said their loss to Everton at the end of August does stick out for me as they had 66% possession yet only three shots on target and lost 2-0, which is are the sort of stats we were seeing under Villas-Boas

The real acid test for Potter's credentials will be their double header against Liverpool and The Sheikh Mansour Team at the end of this month - which happens to coincide with our double header against West Scam and Penchester

Yes,,,but he was doing a really great job at Brighton,so to get him, we were going to need to make a concrete decision to get him and accept no alternative outcome....

...Us?

As the title suggests...all things to do with our perceived rivals matches can be discussed on this post.!

Been doing some "scholarly" research on Islam, and apparently
dismembering hands is acceptable in Sharia as punishment
for gambling.

Therefore I am going to cut off your hands, as it seems the
only means by which we can stop your incessant avatar wagers
(and losses) to Deirdre.

Milner foul on Foden on the edge of the box not given.
VAR looks at it and decides it's outside, so gives nothing. Shouldn't it be a red for DOGSO?
