There's a logic to it, but it's a pretty bad one: in rugby, if the ref consults the TMO and gives a 50/50 call in favour to one side, he'll try to give a 50/50 call to the other so it evens outThe double jeopardy rule doesn't count if it's a deliberate foul in the box, which the ref deemed it to be.
I think it was outside the box, but that would still be a red.
I've no idea how he's escaped a ban. They must be saying that it wasn't a foul, which is a bit ludicrous.
That's sort of what this decision is trying to do: sure, you conceded a penalty, but the player's no longer suspended so you're fine...right?
