Talking of Pickford - very lucky that a marginal offside has kept him on the pitch after he took Van Dijk out.

Awful challenge leading to VDV being substituted
Looks like a bad injury. Could be out for quite a while.
Luckily Adrian's equally **** at the other end. Powerful header, but it's straight at him.
Feels harsh to slag him off for it and you wonder if it's just because of his overall form, but would Alisson have let that in? Not convinced.

It's a brilliant corner and the header was a good one, but I agree the keeper should do better, I would disappointed if Hugo let that in and I don't think he would (its not at his right hand near post!).

Pickford with an excellent save from TAA free kick.

Ben Godfrey on for Coleman so a debut out of position against Mane - Good luck

Well that's a change: usually the Merseyside derby is either a dire affair where nothing happens, or Everton fail to turn up and inevitably get somebody sent off to compound the misery
They've seemed to have gone into a load of these games expecting to lose, for some reason.
If Ancelotti can get that mentality sorted, then it'll help massively.
Tough to get a result against them right now, though.

Having to replace Coleman with an inexperience centre-half isn't going to help, either. Very different player.
Not putting Kenny on the bench when Coleman is carrying an injury looks a poor choice.

Rodriguez (probably correctly) asking for a yellow card for the pullback by Robertson by waving an imaginary card.
Isn't that supposed to get you a booking for ungentlemanly conduct? Stupid lack of consistency.

Somebody somewhere surely needs to be looking into the drastic decline of England keepers over the past few years, be it Joe Hart going from starting for club and country to being understudy to Nick Pope, to Butland going from being England's youngest keeper to somebody that clubs apparently forgot existed so he spent two seasons in the Championship with Stoke before Palace signed him for peanuts
I blame BREXIT, all over England people have taken their eyes off the ball.

One thing missing from the last round of games in which notable teams in red were destroyed was the lack of game changing interventions by the officials. I applaud them for that. But isn't it interesting what can happen when the red teams don't get the support they usually get?

It's similar to Brazil in every World Cup: the refs overlook their dives, fouls and gamesmanship because something something Pele something joga bonito something something, until they come up against a team who body them and the refs can't be bothered (i.e. France in 1998, Germany in 2014)

Richarleson off the post, should be 2-1. Anchellotti has put a decent side together here, potential champions.

EDIT: Arnold was tugging him back as well, another bit you won't see on MotD
