A dead period of time for Spurs was between the wars when our club was regarded as "mean!" Very rarely bought anyone and content on home grown. I believe Arsenal had a much more successful time picking up a few good players in that period.....including one of our old players who became their successful manager.
As with us,after the billionaire clubs have had their pick it doesn't leave much time to try signing what's left.

To me they’re an example of buying for the sake of it. The amount of money they’ve wasted in recent years must be huge. They seem to be overloaded with players who all basically do the same job.
Yeah, I often struggle to understand their overall vision for the squad.
They act like Damien Comolli used to for us, in my opinion.
Try to find the best players that they can sign without paying any attention to the positions that they need to fill.
