But it was offside

Maybe it was just me back in the pre VAR days but if I saw someone score such a goal only for replays to show offside as per the rules state then it would leave me livid.

The rules are precise and now technology is bringing the precision but people don't want it because they miss moaning like ****s for weeks n weeks at why someone got away with it.

The rules either need changing to buffer the stupidity of human interpretation or we need new humans but as far as I can see...the technology is exactly what the game needs due to the rules being so precise separated by a thin line.

It never bothers me, hurts me or any other emotion when VAR calls it right against us. What always gets my back up is bias and inconsistent referees making different decisions for similar incidents because that just makes the whole game pointless. We should just ask the ref at the beginning who he fancies today and just register the result.

Did you see the disallowed corner goal mate?

Did you see the disallowed corner goal mate?

No I didn't Bob...but once again it comes down to the humans...if it was a goal it should be given having watched multiple replays like you and me. Plus when major incidents occur, you and I refer to similar past incidents because it's hard to escape the attention these incidents get.

So why can't the very people in the game know about what has been happening in it throughout the season in order to bring some kind of rational thought into their own decision making?

Lazy bastards with poor standards not doing the necessary to do their job right

Oh i also agree about the offside on giroud. It was a big goal but he was quite clearly offside rather than all the ****ty offsides we have been seeing recently that havent been clear cut

This one could be done and dusted in less than 30 secs

Zouma's? That's a push, but Fred's wasn't and neither was Mane's, apparently.

Dermot Gallagher: Every decision was right, even the ones that disagreed with other decisions.
Stephen Warnock: Required Scouser for every English football show.

It's nice to see Gallagher disagree with Mane, who admitted that he pushed the defender, though. Top stuff. <ok>

The issue is that it isn't bringing the precision. It's sometimes bringing the precision, but other times not bothering to, and that's the real issue: VAR was supposed to iron out the inconsistencies but what it's actually done is magnified how inconsistent referees are...but this country being this country, rather than point the finger at the fact that Premier League referees are also on VAR so are reluctant to rock the boat, instead everyone says the whole thing sounds "forrin" and must be binned off in favour of good old fashioned English refereeing like we have from Dave Ellaray, Graeme Poll, Mark Clattenburg and Howard Webb

The solution is so simply: just have some SFA-qualified refs on our VAR while sending FA-qualified refs north of the border for thiers, and by complete coincidence there's going to be a drastic drop in people turning a blind eye to incidents for fear of making their contemporary or superior look clueless

That was a definite red. Maguire said he put his leg out to stop the guy falling on him, but that is bullshit. Batshuyi (sp?) is never going to fall on him. I think Utd are lucky with the disallowed goal too. If you are pushed, your instinct is to bring your arms up. Should have stood and it's a different game.

What's the point in spending 5 minutes making an offside decision, if you're going to duck a red card for Maguire kicking Batshuayi in the nadgers?

It devalues the whole thing and I'm sure that the officials on the pitch are failing to make decisions, in an expectation that VAR will do it...and they don't.

All it's succeeded in doing, is to show how poor is the standard of officiating in the PL...and it's really very poor.

It's not about ability, for me, but bias. If that's Son, then he's off. I don't think Maguire's was even a foul.

What...apart from Maguire should have been sent off at nil nil?

That was a shocking decision by any standards.

It's not just the impact on last night's match. Maguire is now available for the next three games when he should not be. That could potentially have an even greater impact on the league and other teams fighting for the top 4 (5?) It has been said that decisions favour teams in red, and it's hard to disagree. How many penalties have united had? Rather a lot more than us, that's for sure, and yet we keep getting told that Kane dives. Well if he does he doesn't do it very well.

Man Utd have been given 9 penalties in the Premier League this season. We've had 3.
We've had 6 penalties given against us. They've had one.
We've also had 3 red cards. They've had none.

I mean that I don't think that it was even given as a foul. It's an obvious red.
But Son was punched by Rudiger before he 'straightened' his leg. Maguire didn't mean to harm the player. He's not that sort of player.
Oh and I also heard that Son's foot had a longer connection time with Rudiger; surely that is to do with the oppo player more than the player 'kicking out'

Liverpool are by far the best team in the country atm and probably the best team on the planet, I don’t particularly like it and hope it’s only a short term reign but it’s true.

Some fans will refuse to admit it and use any excuse to downplay their achievements but deep down they know.

This is all true. I hope it'll be for a good while to come. I've been waiting 30 ****ing years. About time we put those scum in their place <ok>
