This is the last thing we needed right now. FFS.
Apparently, he wants us to terminate his contract so he can move back to France. There have been several clubs reported to have met with him (Lyon, Rennes, Toulouse...). He's asked to leave for a while, but Arsenal have maintained the position that if they receive a transfer fee in the region of €10m, they will let him go. But if they don't, he stays.
On the whole, this is really poor from Koscielny. Even the club are shocked at a player, who is held in quite high esteem and has dedicated 9 years of his life to the club, has resorted to an ugly strategy to get his own way.
I'm siding with the club on this. He is under contract at Arsenal and we are more than entitled to ask for a fee. Also, when he was injured for almost a year, we still paid his wages. We didn't look for ways of not fulfilling our duty of care to him. Yet now he wants to leave, he's resorting to this? Loyalty is a two-way street.
We can't let him have his own way. We need to make an example of him.
