Firmino signed a new deal at Liverpool. Apparently he’s on £180,000 a week. Quick question, how can Liverpool pay players big money but we can’t?

Their model has for a long time been accepting of spending a lot more of their income on wages than any other of 'The Big 6'. They've been spending 70% on a pretty regular basis which would suggest that they see incomes increasing significantly on an ongoing basis and have gambled on getting back into the CL, raising their profile and are starting to fire themselves up as a commercial entity.

We've been earning £100m a year less than them and spending a fair bit of our income on the stadium over the last decade. So, their spend has been massively greater than ours for a number of reasons. That they've won exactly what we've won [1 League Cup in that time] and finished beneath us in 7 of the last 8 seasons shows that an awful lot of it has been wasted. I wouldn't trust the owners not to **** it up again, if Klopp left, so they need him to retain belief in the project.

I expect we'll hear details of Salah's ban today.

Oh hang on a minute, perhaps not as I haven't heard the incident mentioned anywhere except on social media. It's almost as if certain parties are only interested if certain players are involved.

Salah plays for media darlings Liverpool, so it won`t get a second mention, if that was Dele Alli aiming a punch at an opponent it would be plastered all over the media in a matter of minutes.

So :

1. you actually have to MAKE CONTACT, seen
or unseen at the time, to get punished

2. INTENT is irrelevant (luck of the draw for the
intended recipient)

But the rule was quoted, you don't actually have to make contact, the intent is the important thing. As you say, it is the luck of the draw if you make contact. In this case the player managed a nifty duck out of the way. I don't think the rules should change because Martins-Indi has good reflexes! We actually know the main reason for the rules change is who the "offender" is.

I want the ban for two reasons.

1. To show there are no herd / media favourites
when it comes to post-match citing of this stuff.

2. Although IMHO Salah will finish top scorer come
season end, for the sheer comedy value of a potential
Mouser meltdown (more so if Kane repeats his
exploits of exactly 12 months ago) .

That’s two weeks running that someone has clearly threw a punch and two weeks running they’ve got away with it.

Wait for Dele to get clearly wiped out tonight but the media will go mad and call him a diver.

So I wouldn't have seen Red for any of my fights at school. Good to know.
