Notwithstanding the irony that his side were the main cause of January's record spending, Wenger's comments about money in the game are spot on and I'm actually quite pleased that a big name manager has spoken out. Wouldn't mind Poch doing the same.
What he has said is spot on.
But it's hard to take seriously from the manager of one of the richest clubs, with the most cash in the bank.
The regulators would have a far better chance of implementing meaningful financial fair play into football if clubs like Arsenal supported them wholeheartedly.
Would Arsenal do that? Of course they wouldn't.

The fact he is paying Ozil £350k per week also shows his argument is simply a convenient excuse in my opinion.
There is NO excuse that covers the above.
I think Wenger is taking bollox, he's saying it's unfair but it always has been and until City changed the game there was no moaning from Arsenal Liverpool Utd Chelsea. He wants it to go back to how it was but it was never fair on the lower sides anyway. I see it as a challenge, can someone knock City off their perch?
Not quite the advice he deserves to hear at least once per weekend...

Competition in Europe's biggest leagues is being "destroyed" by clubs who have "huge financial power", says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Frenchman Wenger pointed to examples in France, Germany, England and Spain.
Paris St-Germain are 11 points clear in Ligue 1, Bayern Munich have a 16-point advantage in the Bundesliga and Manchester City are 15 points ahead at the top of the Premier League.
Wenger said it was clear that "unpredictability has gone down".
He added: "When you look at the five big leagues in Europe, in December we already knew four champions.
"That means something is not right in our game. The huge financial power of some clubs is basically destroying the competition."

Here's something i posted a while back:
Some ideas that could mitigate the ridiculous spending we see today. The number of teams in Point 1 is England and Wales specific but the rest should be applied worldwide:
- 8 regional leagues of 18 teams. Winners go to quarter finals, etc. and the winner wins the league title. In theory, every club has a shout at winning the league. TV Money gets split 144 ways.
- No relegation but bring in a draft system so that over time clubs should be able to reach a similar level
- Academy players have to play at a club in their local area until they are 18, at which point they go into the draft. This would also ensure that they stay close to their families until a reasonable age. This may have to be at an amateur club as professional clubs may not fancy training someone if they know they'll lose them at 18.
- Introduce a maximum squad size and make it so that teams can't hoard talent and then loan them out. A team should be able to loan out a maximum of 5 players.
- Introduce a squad salary cap that will allow the poorer teams to become competitive over time and will reduce ticket and tv prices.
- Players shouldn't receive 100% of their salary on a weekly basis but have a proportion put aside in a trust, only to become available to them once they retire. They may have developed enough intelligence by then to know what to do with it.
- Mandatory teaching at local schools and amateur clubs. Each professional player is obliged to give some time to the local community each year.
- Your club has a chance of winning the league
- will be playing some of the biggest teams so that their gate receipts go through the roof
