Well hopefully we won't win today. Otherwise we are a damn sight closer to you than we are to Liverpoo! ;). Would hate for us to over take you <laugh>

I would moan about it, but given that Everton had a goal chalked off wrongly last week, it would be hypocritical of me to complain about **** officiating.

It's no coincidence, though, that the big decisions normally go in favour of the same team each season, at pivotal moments....

Congratulations on the mod job by the way, YV. I would have chosen you if I was allowed to vote.

Thanks <ok>

Yeah, United fans automatically assume you believe in some grand conspiracy when you talk about referee bias to them but the fact is that a blast from Fergie can really damage a refs career. It's no wonder refs give anything they're not sure about their way.

Carrick's faithful recreation of The Scream might've given him a little hint, Lidls.

Football's not scored like boxing either, so you don't have anything like a point there.

Luke, its nothing to do with match stats, it is all about that one incident, an incident that could have levelled the score. Had the score been the other way round and same incident happened in Fulhams box, would the ref have still waved it away...would he bollocks.

I can never understand this strange logic among football fans. Why is one decision among the thousands by officials, players and managers in a match focused upon and given disproportionate significance?

Because in football, its them decisions which are often the difference between a loss, a win or a draw as yes you can point to the stats in your favour but thats your teams problem for not having end product to match them stats.

The rules stats if a foul is committed in the box on the attacking team by the opposition then its a penalty so when a team like Fulham, is away to utd, 1-0 down and they are refused a blatant penalty then it really does lead fans to believe refs bottle it because its old trafford and they don't have the bottle to give Fulham the penalty.

It just seems Luke that Man Utd get the benefit of the doubt more often than not (and everybody else, especially at OT) and with more clear cut situations than last nights. It's nothing new and neither is denial of any such thing by Mancs.

You can argue the merits of any one particular case. Its only when you see how many "cases" there are that you start to wonder if there is a pattern emerging. I wonder if there are stats on this? I would suspect there are, they have stats on every conceivable thing in a match, so not why number of penalty appeals that are given/turned down by team by ground?

Doesn't show how many are turned down but United players appeal more than anyone else so it wouldn't tell us much anyway.

Edit: Forgot to credit 6061 for linking to his site.

The annoying thing is that we all know why it happens.
Some poor official doesn't fancy taking charge of a game over Hackney Marshes next week, so he doesn't anger Ferguson by giving a correct decision against him.

If he waves away the appeals and he's wrong, then nothing happens.
If he gives a decision against United, however, then one of two things will happen.
If he's wrong, then he'll be insulted, his ability to take charge of matches will be called into question and he'll never get a game at Old Trafford again.
If he's right, then he'll still have his ability, integrity and fitness questioned, plus he'll be removed from the next round of fixtures.

This is why we always end up with the same bunch of refs when we visit the Salford Reds.
They're the only ones left that carry the Fergie Seal of Approval.

Was browsing the Mouser board, and I came across this:-

The difference between Roy and Kenny (they're similar points-wise) is that Kenny has for the most part said the right things when interviewed. Plus the bonus of his history with us.
With Roy, he had no connection with the club prior to taking over here, and he continually alienated himself from the supporters in interviews.

Kenny has said the right things in interviews! <laugh>

Oh, that is just too funny!

Kenny has spent the last few matches getting arsey and sarcastic with interviewers, because he doesn't like to be asked simple questions such as "why are you and your team so bad?"

And as for Roy Hodgson "continually alienated himself from the supporters..." What the hell is this idiot on about? With his incompetent and ill-judged handling over the whole Klanfield-gate affair, Kenny has alienated the club from the rest of football!

You couldn't make this stuff up! Utterly delusional!

Not our rivals but Milan have made a great start in the first 3 minutes and should be one up. No idea how Robinho missed that!

What is Barca's away kit colour this year?

Why are they in the home strip?...sorry people but certain things niggle at me

It always used to be that you would only play in your away kit if the home one clashed with the opposition.Maybe they have gone back to that?

And the BBC match tracker is almost acknowledging the games existence. No line-ups, you have to use Sky Sports' site for that, but it's a positive step for them...

Did you see the Standard yesterday? Barely a mention of our game and no match article, only Chelsea were treated to that.

Not sure Dona, Barca's away kit is black I think but they could've worn the green one, surely.
