Wasn't such an achievement the Goons beating Fulham by the look of it.

I couldn't believe how poor Fulham were against Arsenal, they made it so easy for them. Jol got the tactics/line up all wrong and gave Arsenal a massive confidence boost after their Villa defeat. Credit to Arsenal they played well, but I was amazed that Fulham didn't have a go at them early on, at least in a combative sense if not attacking-wise.

Going back to that Pep thing. Only the Chelsea keeper, playing out of his mind, kept Chelsea in it!......and did you notice that 6 man wall Chelsea had to keep Bayern out for so long?
I did like Mourinho trying to wake the Chelsea fans up.......while they were winning!

Can see him being sacked tout suite. I shook my head when Palace went 1-0 ahead and thought shall I post "Why is Di Canio at Sunderland?" There's no place for him there or for his team in the PL. Then they scored so I switched off until after the match and to my relief Palace won.

City made hard work beating Hull and I can see them faltering against better teams and there's nothing to post about the other matches except are Everton failing? Can we win the league? Can we win the league? That question's going over and over in my mind. Man U are being coached by not the best coach ever to have coached them and City are finding things tough going. Jose has made a mistake going back a second time and Chelsea's luck rebounded on them yesterday so is it finally running out? Liverpool and Arsenal? I need more results but Pool almost drew at home to Stoke which would not have been too auspicious a start. Arsenal beat Fulham but so what? Which leaves us. I'm going to say that we are certainly title contenders.

We still had comfortably the better opportunities and great counter attacking chances. Finishing was the only difference

Come on, don't try to make out if was anything other than an extremely boring, defensive performance.

Bayern were pretty dominant but you defended extremely well.

I think you deserved to win and was even disappointed you didn't - I'd rather English teams did well against foreign teams regardless of rivalry; but it was a very solid, very defensive Chelsea performance don't try to make it out to be anything more. I'm not even saying it's a negative, I'd love for Spurs to be able to sit back and defend against that Bayern team for as long as you did.

Was listening to TalkShite on the way home, late tonight, and there was a debate as who will win tomorrow in the 'Pool v United match. The lines were flooded with red Mousers giving it large and happily predicting that 'Pool will win comfortably, and that Sturridge is the next Pele. <doh> Not one of them had a Merseyside accent, of course, all of them undoubtedly plastics from the 80s and 90s. The levels of delusion are incredible, to the point of being sickening.

I genuinely want United to smash 'Pool. If they don't, the red Mouser will be unbearable.

I might just take Liverpool to edge this one. Chelsea went to Trafford to defend and Man U couldn't break them down. Liverpool will go to attack so this will be a much stiffer away task for Utd than Swansea. Utd v Chelsea was a boring match and I think Pool will be buoyed by their I have to say good win last week at Villa. One goal win for Liverpool, or maybe two.

I hope Utd win, not because I particularly dislike Pool, I can think of quite a few clubs I dislike more than them, but because ATM I'm aiming top 4 for Spurs.

Beat Arsenal and then I might start thinking of us challenging Utd for the title.

A united liverpool draw will do me. I'd rather see both teams get 1 point, than 1 team getting all 3.

HIAG I was a kid in the 80's so it is people of my generation who glory supported Liverpool. Its funny thinking Liverpool have glory supporters when you look at them now. And you are right it always seems to be the ones with the Southern accents who come on the radio shows. I don't particularly like United but I always want them to beat Liverpool for the exact reasons you stated.

United has a cracking side that ticks along like clockwork. Moyes is in the same position as Whinger was in when he took over from Graham, at AFC. The latter inherited a title-winning squad and, not surprisingly, Whinger won the title with it. It's only over time, as the Graham influence receded and Whinger stamped more of his personality on the side, that it went into a slow but steady decline.

Not sure why I'm defending Wenger, but surely he only inherited the defence. He won the title by bringing in Viera, Petit, Overmars/Ljunberg, Pires, Henry and Bergkamp (inherited from Rioch, not Graham)? I agree with the main point though that his judgement has deserted him in the last 5 years.

He relied on French football to a large extent and that is not what it was. Wenger's golden period was France's as well. He is maybe not so clued up now that he has to look further afield.

Sure, he brought in players, but the systems and the defensive ethos of the club had long been ingrained into its structure. Whinger's players, who were quality, simply fitted into that pre-existing structure. What has happened in the years since Whinger took over, is he has tried to impose his "Barcelona" style of tippy-tappy football, and the club has declined as a result.

HIAG, there's a difference between Moyes taking over from Ferguson and Whinger taking over from his predecessor whether Rioch or Graham notably Whinger was equally as good a coach than the other two whereas Moyes is NOWHERE NEAR as good as Ferguson. Utd are an unknown quantity at the moment for me as they've yet to show me what they can do in this still very young season. I don't think Moyes will attract the players who will be as good as the previous Utd squads as he's already going for ex Everton players who in my opinion do not match up.
