http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/28/mesut-ozil-real-madrid-arsenal?CMP=twt_gu I'd rather be on the bench than become a goon.
That's not a bad signing, if he can stay fit. Not exactly awe-inspiring, by any means, but they need a holding player and now they've got one.
As long as Wenger doesn't resign we've got nothing to worry about. Sir Alex is more likely to Win Manager of the month than Wenger spend any money.
You weren't expecting them to actually spend some money, were you?! What are you, a season-ticket holder at the Emirates or something?
it just amused me, how in the last few days in particular, the focus has been on how the fans are sick of them not spending any money. And just to rub it in, their next signing happens to be another freebie. I can't work out what they are playing at. They need a DM and a CB, IMO. and posibly another striker. - surely they can't be leaving 3 big signings like that until deadline day?!
It'll pee us all off if after all this transfer activity they win(God forbid) on Sunday won't it? They're finding the net better than we are at the mo.
Massive result for Celtic. One of their youth players that we once had a look at, James Forrest, scores an injury time third goal for them, putting them through and Borat's team out. 3-0 on the night, 3-2 on aggregate. Looked very unlikely after the first leg.
So, let me get this right: We sign lamela Chiriches flies in, seemingly nailed on We are talking to Eriksen Arsenal sign Flamini ???? Just let me sit back, contemplate and enjoy that
If these deal go through, then the signings will look like this, Spurm: Tottenham: Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Lamela, Chiriches, Eriksen. Arsenal: Sanogo, Flamini. Looks fine, to me. Sadly, I still think we'd need to do a little more business!
This match was always going to be a couple of matches too early. Wenger has chosen to stick, we have decided to twist. If you take a pragmatic view, even if we lose we are still equal on points with the Nomads, if we win it's beginning to look a long way back for them. However, there are not many pragmatists when it comes to a NLD, most of us expect to win because of the signings/lack of signings. Personally I think our strength will be our depth so we stand more of a chance beating them over the long haul, the whole season rather than a one-off match. However, I for one will be bitterly disappointed if we go there and lose without putting up much of a fight. If we go down fighting then so be it. Many of the new players do not understand the magnitude of the significance of this match. Paulinho tweeted tonight how hard him and Epoue have trained for the return Dinamo match. Many Spurs fans tweeted him back to say **** that, don't get injured, it's Sunday that counts. Many of us smell blood and we don't want the cunning old fox to escape once more. Death to the water bottle!!!
It doesn't matter about being on equal points at this stage of the season, it's about getting them beaten and bragging rights etc. I'm going for a draw.
The only factor not in our favour going into the game on Sunday is that we have a lot of new players, and arsenal are a unit who know one another. They will create chances, so our defensive players are going to have to be on top form. But other than that, we've got the superior quality and squad depth now, IMO. If lamela is available, that's another bonus, and if Eriksen is signed in time... Well... It just gets better. But football is a funny old game and after all the positivity we've seen this summer, it's Sod's law they'll beat us!
Hopefully, an increasingly desperate Whinger will " do a Levy" and rush in and pay over the odds for some last minute " bargain"
I realize the question may have been asked once or twice on Arsenal's board, but neither can I. I would still be surprised if they don't have a big signing or two before 9/3, but it makes no sense to have waited this long to address the general thinness of the squad. Part of it seems to be Wenger simply not wanting to pay going prices, some of it undoubtedly is not having a DOF. Transfer activity, clearly, requires someone full time.
This is from an embittered Gooner (TheBear) on the Gooners' board, today:- "Well Saldado has been third/forth choice for Spain when everyone has been fit and Brazil are hardly the team they used to be. Both good players but for me neither are World Class. I would'nt put Paulinho up their with Xavi, Fabregas, Ozil, Pirlo - That's 'World Class' Just as I would'nt put Saldado in with.. RVP, Ibrahimovic, Suarez, Cavani, Falcao Rooney.. It's all just opinion though." The bitterness emanating from that board, on a daily basis, is palpable. It threatens to consume them. Most of them have convinced themselves that all of our buys are ordinary and don't make us better than AFC. My god! Are those boys in for a massive shock!
