I didn't look at Villa's start to the season to see how tough it was or Chelsea's but beating the goons by 2 penalties has to be ignored and they really should have won against the chavs. Saying that Chelsea should be concerned that they didn't score in the second half against Hull and were VERY lucky to
beat Villa. I was concerned last season when we failed to score in the second half against Coventry and look what happened,I think the same might happen to the chavs. Going back to a club a second time as I've said before rarely works. Man U are living on Ferguson's ripples and City have lost their aura of invincibility after yesterday. Pool are a bit of a concern and like us have only scored two in two but could have drawn at home against Stoke which isn't all that hot.
I think Utd will falter later on in the season and if we can get it together we can vie for the title,City must be worried about themselves.

no offence but you struggled to breakdown a Swansea side that we beat 4-1, we won't falter.

No offence taken but I've already posted that you beat Swans by three goals and we by a penalty. It remains to be seen whether you'll be as strong without Ferguson,I don't think you will be. Pity you only replied to the part of the post which mentioned your team.

Team A loses to Team B, Team C beats Team B. Does that mean Team C is better than Team A?

The relative wins between swans/spurs/utd mean less than ****-all, they were 2 different games with infinite numbers of variables. If they were played again Swansea migh be sitting top

In Utds game against Swansea it was very even - 2 goals against the run of play changed it enormously. We didn't give them a look in till the end. I take some comfort from that, although we need to improve our final ball quickly.

One of Mancini's better decisions, but one he couldn't actually implement.

Hart's been getting progressively worse and Begovic has been consistently good for some time now.
The competition for a place might have made England's current keeper up his game.

It's two games into a new season - one for Utd. It's not even the end of the cricket season - or the transfer window for that matter. How can you be drawing conclusions about what will happen in May? If you were inclined to do so that you'd note that the team who won the title by a landslide three months ago started with a performance of soliod defending and ruthless finishing. If you see evidence of Utd's demise in that, good luck to you.

Anyone else find it remarkably convenient that the fixture computer picked Man Utd vs Chelsea for a bank holiday weekend?

I always thought the '' super sunday'' fixtures where a coincidence as they would never be fixed.

Even in the season where one Grand Slam Sunday (or whatever Sky's PR department called it...) was the weekend before Christmas, and another over Easter weekend?

Talking of fixture fixing, reminds me of something I found out the other day. We all know of the absurd number of times we have played away on our first game of the season, but apparently we have frequently requested to have our opening game away from home. The reason being is that the goalmouth at the Park Lane end of the stadium, sees very little natural sunlight throughout the year and so our groundsman prefers as long as is possible to prepare that area for it to be how he and the club want it to be.

Can you give him a slap for me next time you see him please, SC? An extra few days for his grass is not worth starting each season at a disadvantage, frankly.

We've scored four goals from open play with key players absent. We had 67% possession and dominated the first half. Villa were never in the game until Benteke scored. We'll be fine starting from Fulham (H), until then there's no point worrying about performances.

It didn't. Sky picked it for a bank holiday weekend. What's more coincidental is Liverpool v United and Arsenal v Spurs on the same weekend. It's so transparent, clearly in cohorts with Sky for viewers.

I just think that the TV companies have approval over the fixture list. There's an argument that they should have too, given the amount of money that they put into the league.
As long as there's some balance to it, teams don't end up with silly fixtures (Newcastle away at Southampton on Boxing Day or something) and no bias, then I'm not that bothered.

    Villa/Palace, Cardiff/Southampton, Chelsea/Swansea, Norwich/Fulham and Spurs/West Brom this year.
