We have officially bid for Suarez, but haven't missed out on him as there is still a few weeks of the window left.
The point of my query was to highlight the fact that we hear all this gossip and hearsay so often that it often becomes accepted as fact, when it usually isn't.

Obviously no one knows how much you bid for him, because that sort of thing isn't released into the public domain generally, and it's bad etiquette to talk about other clubs' players in such a way. It doesn't mean you didn't bid for him. The majority of Arsenal fans accept that Arsenal wanted him, and spoke to him, before he moved to Napoli because Arsenal couldn't agree a fee. This is why he was booed so ungraciously at the Emirates Cup...
