Colin's been sacked by Leeds. Townsend with a vicious, swirling shot, which comes to Zamora from Schwarzer's save, but he's offside. Quite a bit of a connection to us in this game, isn't there?
Emanuelson came on as a sub and he's put in one of the most notably **** performances that I've seen this season. Really poor. QPR knocking on the door. Townsend looking dangerous. Ooh, Sidwell's off. Very, very poor challenge. Not as bad as that McMananaman one, though.
No magical ending for QPR, as they seemed to run out ideas at the end. Redknapp's decision to bring on Jamie Mackie and move Townsend into some random role that I couldn't determine seemed to end his participation and destroy their shape. Entertaining game. M'bia put in another really hardworking performance in the middle of the park. Someone will pick him up if the go down, which now looks likely.
Yeah I think that's QPR gone now. Cesar, M'Bia and Remy would be an interesting coup for somebody if imagine.
It's also bad news for Spurs as that's Fulham safe now and they still have to play Arsenal and Chelsea so no real incentive for them to win, but with QPR down it makes that game redundant for Arsenal.
I know some will be enjoying arrys "failure" but as this qpr fan said He has improved them, got them winning games, picking up points but they waited too long to sack Hughes. nevermind, its a shame as i wanted qpr to stay up, but they have always been playing catch-up with the teams above,
Improved in some ways, deteriorated in others. They look far more confident and accomplished but defensively the games against Liverpool, Villa and Fulham are as bad as anything you'll see at this level. Redknapp has done well in the games he's been expected to lose I.e Chelsea, City, Spurs but been abject against teams around them/bottom half. In fairness none of those were down to shape, you can't legislate for individual errors. In many ways I actually think QPR would have been better off going down last season, sacking Hughes, getting Harry in and they'd be straight back up and with the new TV deal, pretty much be a permenant fixture in the PL.
Deteriorated from the 5-0 thumping on the opening game of the season? QPR have been putting in shambolic defensive performances from the start of the season, there hasnt been any deterioration, but it was near on impossible for any manager to improve the defence, midfield and attack of a team with 4 points in late November. Redknapp went about it in the right way, and the loss of Ryan Nielsen was a huge blow, as Samba isn't a great defender, but he works great with Nelsen (from their time at blackburn) so again that was unfortunate that they couldn't have that partnership and the lack of leadership at the back is what causes these errors. Also, lets not forget before Redknapp arrived, QPR fans (and virtually all football fans) basically said they where doomed and the only reason there was hope, was because of what Redknapp can bring, yet Hughes cased this mess, he made no impact last season and they survived by sheer luck, he built an unbalanced squad this year and I believe its because he took the QPR job for the wrong reason. remember why he resigned from Fulham? because he wanted to manage a big club, so how did he end up at QPR (no offence) he was always in the job for the wrong reasons and it showed on the pitch.
Well done Chelsea. I wanted you to beat United.....then beat City......then LOSE to Wigan/Millwall. You will do this for me won't you?
And building up our confidence/momentum. Had we lost yesterday you'd be facing us without Ashley Cole
Hughes with an open cheque book bought the worst set of players in my memory, anyone pinning there hopes on Djibril Cisse wants their head testing. Ah well, Joey Barton can look forward to Championship football too.
The QPR fans on this old thread were great: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/163739-Tottenham-accept-£9m-bid-from-QPR-for-Michael-Dawson Never did see Ellers around at Christmas to rub our noses in it
Hughes at one point was a decent manager, done a good job with Wales, highly rated young manager at Blackburn, but the arrogance kicked in and to resign from Fulham believing he could manage Chelsea or a club like City again showed the guys ego for what it is, which is why to end up QPR was laughable (for him) yet their chairman should have sacked him after 10 games and they would have avoided the drop.
