Of course, but considering you’ve given him £280m to spend ad he’s been backed heavily with predominantly his own players, it does seem quite striking that he gets fired a week after a transfer window like that.

Also, he won you the Champions League 18 months ago, got you to two cup finals last season which you lost on penalties to a top Liverpool side and comfortably guided you to a CL spot, despite all the turmoil off the pitch.

That’s why I think the decision hasn’t been (mainly) performance-related.

He did deserve more time.

yeah, most managers do especially tuchel, but how many times do you see new owners come in and they get rid of the current manager as soon as possible.

What Tuchel has achieved counts for nothing with the new boss.

I'm not sure that Potter will take the job, if it's offered. Saying no is the smart move, for my money.

Chelsea currently resembles the wild west. The owners are flashing their money at anything and everything, like they just struck gold or oil. It resembles PSG from a few years ago and that didn't work out for any coach in the last few years.

Potter's got great support at Brighton from sensible owners, who know what they're about. He's not going to get found out as a one season wonder, because he isn't. He'd be better off waiting for a more sensible proposition, rather than potentially getting his reputation ruined by the new kid in town's rush to outspend the rest of the league put together.
What you say makes complete sense, the trouble is we are not talking about a 'sensible' profession. With the millions
involved it's very difficult for anyone to turn down the opportunity for life long financial security. From a football point of view it's also difficult for a football man to turn down the chance of working with top players.

There are a lot of idiots in football. Potter doesn't strike me as one. He's clawed his way up the managerial ladder from a part-time team nobody had ever heard of.

I'd expect him not to jump at something just because there's a load of money involved. He'll put Boehly's proposition through the wringer, if he takes it....and he may well not.

We'll soon see.

No way Potter turns down Chelsea. He would be mad too. I can’t stand them as a club but they’re one of the elite and Graham Potter like anyone else knows it’s a huge opportunity.

Looks as if this one is a go-er. Sadly.

Seeing potter go to chavski is like knowing a really fit bird but not going after her because she's your wife's sister
I feel it's more like watching one of your mates who likes fast cars buying a really silly one.
You know he's going to plough the ****er into a tree on a bend that he's misjudged.

It could be a bit like Clough going to Leeds in the end. While it ended disasterously as a job, the (then) huge payout meant that Clough could take the job of his choice and take his time with it knowing that he was financially secure.

After everything we’ve witnessed over the last 15-20 years with Chelsea, why would Graham Potter even so much as consider this, if he’s approached? He’s got such a good reputation in the game already. Even if he he’s having thoughts about moving on from Brighton in the not too distant future, he’ll have so many options and suitors.
Of all of those potential choices, why, as a young, progressive coach would you join the list of Chelsea managers, who ultimately end up being hired and fired?
Other clubs will pay very good money too!
From a Chelsea blog: "[Potter is] said to be open to the idea of upgrading his office to this fancy chopping block of ours."
