    The issue is the £1.5bn loan owed to Romano. He has said he doesn’t want it back but to be given to those affected by the war in Ukraine. HMG needs a viable audit to where that money goes but Romano is not playing ball.

    The loan has to be audited and can’t disappear in some black hole otherwise it will land HMG in trouble with the financial regulators.
