I do so agree. I used to be a volunteer there many years ago because I loved the history of the place & the peace & wildness. There are wonderful memorials, many with a great story to them. After a busy week at work I enjoyed my Sunday afternoon working in the grounds of the old Highgate Cemetery.

Absolutely off topic, but because it's just such an amazing place and it is a lot nicer than thinking about the Mendy allegations...

There does seem to be an element of forgetting the 'innocent until proven guilty' principle when it comes to certain charges it seems. Some of it more like the justice of 'she's a witch, burn her'. Obviously if Mendy weighs the same as a duck he should be drowned, but until then isn't is better to wait for the evidence?

The counterargument to this is that rape and sexual assault are extremely difficult to prove in a court of law. And the victim is always at a disadvantage when trying to 'prove' that it happened.

To be honest, the fact there's been multiple charges from different women, the fact that the club have gone out their way to suspend him and release a public statement, suggests to me that Mendy isn't innocent.

It's also worth bearing in mind that if the court's verdict is he's 'Not Guilty', that doesn't necessarily mean he's 'innocent'. It's far more complex than this.

You still need to reserve your judgement IMO.

of course this is true. But that is a conversation for after the trial. Claiming guilt before the trial though makes for mob justice. Conversations can be had, but only once evidence is presented in a structured way

Just a thought.......is Dick Turpin in that cemetery?

Had to smile at the football headlines today. "Ronaldo heading to United via Portugal "IN HIS PRIVATE JET!" to talk terms.United offering 25 mill."
Seems only yesterday I watched Eddie Baily arriving at Spurs ground in a trolleybus!!

Actually they could be importing some serious squad infighting. Ronaldo will of course expect to take pens and free kicks. Pen-nandez may have other ideas.
They've played about 30 games together for Portugal. Ronaldo takes precedence.
They'll have to take one penalty each per match.

It's not good for the development of Greenwood Rashford, Sancho and James. Martial, Mata and Lingard will surely be looking for moves urgently.

James is ****. He's like the Welsh Traore, just very fast with little end product. Wouldn't be surprised if they try selling him.

Pros and cons for Greenwood, he's still very young so learning from Ronaldo and Cavani could be huge for his long term development.

I reckon Lingard will go back to West Ham on the final day.
