A lot of these players have been underperforming for a long time and under multiple managers. When do we finally admit that they are a massive part of the problem. Football is decided by such fine margins and whether we like it or not, it’s a ruthless game and you can’t afford to carry passengers. Maybe a new manager will come in and get the likes of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Bergwijn and Doherty performing to a decent level on a consistent basis but more realistically chances are these players will produce more of the same which we’ve seen this season. As for Dier, Winks, Sissoko, Dele, Aurier. These lot have been below par for a long time and need to be shown the door asap because I don’t think any manager on the planet could save their Spurs careers at this stage.
Once again I will use Ndombele as an example Had previous where he was not trying, his teammates had got pissed off with him, his coaches too. He needed his head wobbling and it worked. Reading reports from people that were associated with him at Lyon, he had needed a ‘wake me up’ on the odd occasion. He has done the same here, it took Daniel Trotter to tell of his GCSE struggles to get Ndombele ramped up for a brief period of time. I dont care about what he does when he can be arsed, winning teams have zero passengers, you don’t win things with lazy fat ****s turning up every now and again like he’s a Harlem globetrotter wooing the fans with the odd little Cruyff turn. He’s paid handsomely enough...people will argue he hasn’t settled down, foreign country, young man blah blah, give him time, but like I said...he’s been a lazy **** in his own back yard so Im not buying it. our fine lines are just wrongly drawn, simple as that, we mess up on the small print, why? Because that’s the attitude filtering through from the top, not enough serious ****s being given about on field success.
Ndombele is basically a very expensive Taarabt. Bags of skill but no idea and no application, with little understanding of work rate either. Then we have Lo Celso who’s basically Harry Winks with a bit of flair and tenacity, who also happens to be made of glass. In slower leagues they done well, in the Prem they’re fishes out of water. Best thing we can do is try cashing in on them this summer whilst they may still hold some value. Another season of these two and we’re taking £30m hits on both.
In an ideal world, he’d be gone in the summer along with many others, I genuinely believe this squad needs a massive clear out even though history shows how difficult it is to integrate multiple new players. Maybe the new manager will save a few careers but like you say the issues with Ndombele aren’t easily solved as he just doesn’t seem to have the right attitude But for the money he cost and the market being lower because of covid etc. I see him being at Spurs next season unfortunately. Plus there is about 6-7 ahead of him that need to be got rid of first and going by past windows Spurs will struggle to sell them.
In principle I agree but we’ve also got to factor in how we’re going to fund the money for a rebuild. For instance if we sold Toby, Dier, Sissoko, Winks and Lamela right now, we’d be lucky to make a combined £50m. That funds two good players with the right scouting but potentially leaves us 2-3 players down in a squad who’ll still need replacing. Yet if we sold Ndombele and Lo Celso, we might get around £70m for just those two and that can fund 2 or 3 good players with the right scouting. It’s going to be a juggling act that’s for sure. There’s definitely poorer players at the club but we’ll be needing to sell to buy this summer and players like Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sanchez and Dele are probably the highest value players we can afford to sell who we won’t miss.
We will be selling Harry Kane to fund a rebuild unfortunately, along with (hopefully) deadwood such as Aurier, Sanchez, Doherty, Sissoko and Winks. Some others may also move on due to contract situations like Lamela for example. We could bring in around £200m in sales, which will not go far when you consider what we will need and the quality we will need, and I don`t expect ENIC will be putting much more money in other than what comes in from sales either. With the likelihood of no European football next season, we could maybe make do with a slightly smaller squad though, and fill the squad places with some younger players. The outlook is rather grim on the face of it.
I agree that no European footy means we can trim the squad significantly but we’ll still need to be weary of numbers. There’s also no guarantee Kane will definitely go, albeit I think we all know he’ll definitely ask to leave. It’s whether Levy gets what he deems acceptable and as **** as he’s done these last few years, we can rest easy knowing that if Kane does go it’ll be for mega money. But right now it’s hard to say well defo have £150m from his sale or not yet, so I wouldn’t factor that in just yet. That’s why Sanchez, Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele need to be some of the front runners alongside the actual deadwood as they hold solid value.
IMO the buyer of Kane will pay in instalments due to restricted finances, so that will also need to be factored in in your spending plans.
Is that very unusual though? I thought it was quite common for players to be bought over a period of time and there will be bonuses built in as well that may help us in seasons to come if he wins the trophies he desires. I am sure that a skilled negotiator with Levys experience will be able to do similar deals for players we purchase too.
That’s hardly going against the norm though right? Nearly every transfer has most if not all of the actual fee spread over the years the initial contract is signed for. There’s one or two exceptions of course but it tends to help all parties with the accounting and cash flow.
Pretty sure "restricted finances" isn't a line that The Sheikh Mansour Team can use and expect to be taken seriously It's also worth remembering that, when Kyle Walker went there, we flat told them that they'd be paying the fee upfront or they could **** off - although we only did that after our original negotiation, where Jadon Sancho would be included in the deal, was refused
My point was that Levy normally wants all the money up front (and he is good at getting what he wants) but will he accept payments in instalments.
I don’t know why you’re assuming he always does, tbh. I know hbic used the Kyle Walker example but I don’t even know if that’s accurate and if it is, it’s an outlier in any case. Instalments is the norm across the board and has been for ages. Some clubs even take out bridge loans to make it financially better for them, it’s a whole industry.
Fat Frank's pulled out of the running for the Palace job, just after they ****ed off Owlman! What an arsehole.
Ashley Barnes has been arrested for drink driving after a four hour drinking session. ****ing stupid and it's nice to see that Burnley are on the beach already. Get a cab you utter bellend. You get paid more per week than the average yearly wage in the UK, FFS.
