Players shouldn't be allowed loans to clubs in the same league. Yes I know we've benefited from it in the past, but I still think it's wrong. The player can appear against every club except their own. It's almost like the parent club having 12...13... 14 players on the field in any one round of matches. I'm not just saying it because of Lingard, though surely he's been worth quite a few points to the Spam.
The BBC match report says (haven't seen it myself so am only going on text) that Lacazette was pulled back in the box but didn't go down, and then didn't score. This is also a very bad symptom of modern football. The authorities are actually encouraging players to dive (let's call it cheat for that is what it is), or they don't get the decision. How can they claim to be against cheating yet make zero effort to stop it? Yet we've seen certain players brushed by a feather as if shot, but do get a penalty.
It's not that rare, either. Chelsea have four players at other Premier League clubs, for example. Several clubs have one or two and it's become fairly common during the current financial mess, mainly for backup players. Matt Ryan from Brighton to Arsenal would probably have been a permanent one under other circumstances.
I think it's six for Chelsea! But their loans policy is ridiculous. I suspect some of the others may have been permanent had clubs felt able to commit to paying a fee. Not too many clubs can afford to buy at present. Lingard may well have been sold in normal times; his form now at West Ham might get him back in the reckoning at United!
