I've never understood this thing for college games by tv. They are amateurs (I think!), not professionals in the USA. But then I don't like basketball or gridiron.
Ignoring the fact that the decade doesn't end until the end of next year, I'm surprised Utd are 2nd given the abysmal showing since SAF left in May 2013.https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50685505
Some interesting stats for the last decade.
I note that they only talk about spending in league terms and not specific to clubs. Just looking at the top 6 in their list it would be worth noting that every point City have won has come at a cost (just in transfer fees) of £1.8 Million (gross spend) or £1.2 Mill (net) - by comparison each point we have won has cost £913,00 (gross) or £123,000 (net). In between the Gross figures are Chelsea 1.6m, Man U 1.5m, Liverpool 1.3m & Arsenal 1.1m - Net they move around Man U 919,00, Chelsea 500,000, Arsenal 485,000, & Liverpool 363,000.
There is no question that if wages were also factored in we would look even more effective, and whilst there are no prizes for being a well run club, I do think that as we narrow the gap financially this does augur well or the future. It also shows just what a good job Poch did (though we all knew that).
I would also suggest that if half way through the decade I had suggested that we would end the decade with as many wins in the league as the Goons by the time we reached Dec 2019 I would have been laughed out of town, but its there in black and white as much to do with them slipping I will agree, but it still looks good to see a table for the 10 years with us ahead of them even it is by the smallest of margins.

Just scraped our way into the final chaps![]()

Sean Wright Phillips told a story about when he was at Chelsea.
They were facing us in the Cup. Mourinho told him that he wouldn’t be starting the match, but that if they were losing at half time he’d bring him on and Chelsea would draw the match, and then beat us at the Lane.
SWP said that Chelsea went in at half time 3-0 down to us, so Mourhino brought him on for the second half, and the match ended a draw. Chelsea went on to beat us 1-2 at Lane.
SWP said that players used to love playing us because we would “roll over” when we went behind. He said that Mourhino will change that.

City aside, the other top six sides had good and bad spells resulting in all of them having similar records.
If only all those billions hadn't been thrown at City.....
Great story...apart from the fact we were not 3 nil up...we were 3-1 up...to a team who were light years ahead of us player wise.
Stats from the Oxford v City game:
Total shots 18-18
On target 5-4
Corners 6-6
Of course City were far more clinical, but credit to Oxford for creating 18 attempts.
Possibly - and it was a reasonably strong team tooIs that the most attempts against Pep’s city?
If you take the 10 completed seasons 2009-2010 - 2018-2019 and work out the average league position for these 6 teams City average highest at 2.3, Utd and Chelsea joint 2nd at 3.5, then us and Goons average 4 and LIverpool last of the 6 on the 10 year ave at 5.4.
College football games are much better to watch than NFL games, given they don't cut to commercial every fifteen secondsI've never understood this thing for college games by tv. They are amateurs (I think!), not professionals in the USA. But then I don't like basketball or gridiron.
