Less than 2 weeks ago, Spurs were 14th and miles off top 4, now up to 5th and only 6 points off Chelsea and above Arsenal and Man Utd. It’s a funny old game
A good PL weekend. Started 9 pts behind 4th place, and are now 10 pts behind 3rd. < onwards and upwards >
It's a really tight league this year and I'm loving it. The relative crises at us, Woolwich, Everton and United plus the unexpected (by some) strength of Leicester, Sheff Utd, Burnley and Wolves (juggling european footy) have combined to make an intriguing set-up.
There is just 8 points between Southampton in the relegation zone and us in 5th...do not remember things being that tight in previous years after 14 matches. By now there is a top 5...a gap, then a group of 7 or 8...then a group of 7 or 8 battling relegation.
Mauricio Pochettino has given an interview that suggests those clubs that want him to jump straight into another job, will end up disappointed... “For now, I just want to relax. I’m here a few days in Argentina and we’ll see. It’s clear that there are many clubs and many projects that could be good to get into, but for now the most important is to clear the head after five and a half years at Tottenham that were incredible and to have days where you don’t think as much about the future, to be able to regenerate, find that energy and internal motivation to return to the trenches and dive into and face a project once again, if we deem it necessary.” He's going to get lots of interesting offers, has a handsome pay off from us and I don't expect him to be chomping at the bit to come into a job mid-season where he's expected to make an immediate impact. I'd be very surprised if he took a job before the summer.
Me neither but I may have been wrong. Sky are reporting that there was more said than I'd seen... "It is my intention to return to manage in Europe. It is hard for me to imagine a project in Argentina. However, for the sake of my family, I would not refuse to work over here. But now I need to be calm for a few days and see what happens. I haven't had a lot of time to digest what has happened with me. "But I expect to return to Europe to make decisions on my future. At my age I don't need a lot of time to recover. I am open to listen to projects put before me." ...I still think that an early return wouldn't be in his own best interests. He's been getting increasingly cranky for a little over a year. His press conferences had become painful to watch as the hacks sensed blood in the water, he was falling out with people at the club and the football his team was playing was getting worse and worse. He left us in the same way that Mourinho left United and a similar period of recuperation would be wise.
He needs to do what maureen did, a bit of punditry, see how his rivals operate without pressure. Study the likes of Klipperty and Pep, and then return better armed.
The Telegraph have been pretty well up on our management issues recently, so this is an interesting development... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...tempts-hire-mauricio-pochettino-season-would/ I should have known that Daniel Levy would have foreseen that Arsenal and probably United would be looking for new managers. I can't see Ed Woodward getting up the nerve to ring Levy and Arsenal will just get the 'phone put down on them. Looks like it'll be Everton or Watford.....
PSG or back to Spain, perhaps? Southampton might be looking too, if they don't get dug out by VAR ****ing up, again.
The stadium atmosphere mode without the commentary is brilliant. I've said on here a few times that they should do it without the commentator. Commentators are like the annoying cnut sitting behind you at a match. Cant wait for a goal so I can try the highlights button.
