Nope, just accepted the reality that we are soon to be a midtable club. It's inevitably going to happen, so may as well come to terms with it sooner rather than later. We are done competing at the top level.
The other obvious problem was making Stan Kroenke a majority shareholder which, funnily enough, Dein did not want to happen and resigned shortly after that was verbally agreed (IIRC). That being said, admittedly, we have made enough money without relying on his external investment to be a competitive side. Our revenues have been high. It's just a shame we ended up pissing it up the wall on rubbish players and lucrative contracts for players who didn't warrant it. There's only so long you can get away with poor decisions before it comes to bite you on the arse.
I honestly ain't wumming but celebrating the bare minimum was institutionalised at Arsenal from the minute Wenger claimed top 4 was a trophy back in 2009. I remember the selfies being put online after winning games. When we were piss poor under Sherwood your keeper pulled a phone out at fulltime and they took photos on the pitch. Can you imagine SAF or Maureen allowing his players to do that? After beating Leicester in their title winning season their were dressing room selfies all over social media. When you came second Wenger gave a piss taking interview saying it was in Arsenals DNA to finish above spurs. Your players were wildly celebrating in their cars driving away from the Emirates after winning the NLD this season and that ended up all over social media. At half time when you were winning 2 nil at home to newcastle Bellerin came on the pitch and said it was good to see tottenham are back in Arsenals shadow. Arsenal ignored the warning signs of their better players leaving to win things, were arrogant in believing they'd always be a top 4 club and are now making weird arsed panicked decisions that are not working. You remind me of Liverpool in the early 1990s tbh!
On top of everything else, the club itself started leaning in to the fans whose outlook on a season was about the same as the type of Newcastle fan who would be content if they were relegated from the Premier League as that still meant they finished above Middlesbrough and Sunderland - to the point they started to produce merchandise to appeal to them please log in to view this image ...so much for their jibes about DVDs, eh?
I must admit to forgetting the Arsenal Chelsea game was on......because,mowing my garden front and back managed to slice the bloody cable to the tv,phone and computer. As it happened,I didn't want to watch it anyway!
Watching those ticked off Arsenal fans and reading comments from and about other teams, including ours!.....makes you think doesn't it? Hitler really didn't stand a chance against crazy Brits, did he...….and the ladies would ( and did) give him a black eye too!
You are still a wealthy club and as the business model (top 4 qualification) is eroded, then surely even your directors will need to be bold. This'll start hitting them in the pocket and up with that they will not put. Surely.
Someone's crying my lord, VAR. Someone's crying my lord, VAR. Someone's crying my lord, VAR. Oh my lord, VAR.
In their defence, as Citeh have paid out a good 100m odd per trophy over this decade, you can see why it upsets them that Spurs may end up getting the UEFA Champions Cup for far less.
