And us Thought United would avenge their loss in the FA Cup, but Wolves performed well again and Young's sending off did United no favours. Glad Wolves did the business. Not looking forward to playing them in a few weeks, though. Hopefully they're in the FA Cup final and all their focus will be on that...
The Europa League is a horrid competition. I ****ing hate it. It only gets somewhat interesting from the QFs onward. At least in the CL, it's usually interesting from match day 1 and lots of fans are engaging with what's happening.
That's given me heart for the rest of the season. Well, OGS is NOT the man to take Utd forward and I think we all knew that their form at the start of his reign wouldn't last but fair play to him. Seems to me that there might be a clear out at Utd at the end of the season with Pogba and I'd think Mata on their way. It'll be interesting to see who they get in. Not a disastrous score line tonight but well done Wolves.
Your game against them comes a tad too early for the cup final to be a distraction I'd say. They are seriously impressive at Molineux, which is a proper old-fashioned cauldron of noise. Get straight at teams. So many composed players on the ball, a fluid front 3 and a calm defensive line with a very solid keeper behind them. I can only see them kicking on next season and succeeding where Everton have repeatedly failed by closing the chasm on the top 6 regulars.
Neves and Moutinho so good on the ball, they're key to how well this Wolves side have done. It's amazing what happens when you have good, technical and creative CMs, eh?
With caution, I know he was in a defence like a clowns car but he has hardly shown any sign of progress this season
I wouldn't be against signing Sessegnon, not done well this season though he's only 18 and found out the Prem is a different beast to the Championship (especially with a **** side) but it's clear to see he's a talented lad who still won't have physically matured yet. No more than £15m though. If Fulham want silly money they can **** off, they're likely gonna be ****ed after a season or two anyway, spunked £100m in the summer, no way they're clawing that back.
You hate it for the group stage non-spectacle, even though you can field far weaker teams (you have yet to get a group like Spurs did in 2015) . We like it for the extra two games it gives you in the KO stages.
I quite like it. Obviously much prefer CL for obvious reasons but I think it gets far too much disrespect. Don't get me wrong, I'll be ****ing livid if Spurs end up in the EL next season if we continue our collapse in the Prem this season but all in all I think it's a good competition to win if you have the chance, especially as there's now a CL spot up for grabs for the winners.
They say Real Madrid's refurbishment of their stadium will make it the best in the world. Is the government paying for it?
Neves would be perfect for us...play him CM...play Dele in Eriksen's spot. We could get him for the Eriksen money Hahahaha who am I kidding, ignore me
I think it has potential to be a very good second-tier European competition, but currently, it has too many flaws. They only recently put CL qualification as the ultimate prize (from 2016 I believe). Prior to that, there was no real incentive for a bigger club to win it. There's not enough money for progressing to each round. I could be wrong, but I think getting to the Last 16/QFs of the CL gets you more income than winning the entire Europa League. I also don't think it's fair that teams who finish 3rd in the CL group stages get to drop down into it. They had their opportunity, why should they get a second bite of the cherry? From a personal point of view, I hate playing random teams from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and wherever else in the group stages. The journeys are long, it is hard to get up for it because the level of opposition are poor and you play at weird kick-off times. On top of that, I hate the constant Thursday & Sunday schedule. It's not enjoyable and, if our rivals play beforehand, there's added pressure on us to win games having known the results of the previous day(s). Some of those things I've said can't be helped, however, I just can't shake this feeling of it being a pile of rubbish at the moment. God knows how **** this third-tier European competition is going to be when UEFA roll it out from 2021.
