    Do the odds not reflect the relative delusion of the particular clubs fans or is it the inability of the media to see beyond received opinion

    So in effect they are expecting Spurs to come 6th..

    Year after year Liverpool are a shorter price than us with no justification in real terms .....If I remember correctly West Ham were the biggest losers for one bookie chain last season if they done the impossible .....Bookies react to the delusional supporters of certain teams ......as we all know Spurs fans are not delusional Liverpool ,Arsenal Man U and West Ham fans are a different breed altogether though .

    Mousers love chucking their ( somebody else's? ) money at bets on their beloved Pool. The bookies welcome them with open arms. They shorten the odds continually, but such is the mouser delusion, the money keeps coming!...

    Couldn’t have happened to a nicer club. Could I defend him? I’d say, "Lazio hired a man known to the world as El Loco, and now they’re complaining that he behaved erratically. If they bought a horse they’d complain that it ate oats, ran fast and shat all over the place."
    Well said.

    Another way of looking at Messi’s punishment is that they used to hang starving men for stealing bread. So what should you do to an immensely rich man for robbing from the crown?"
    Surely a rational gambler would bet half on us, half on Arsenal...and (edit, now that Kante has shoved off) hope one of us does a bit better at crunch time than we’ve tended to do lately.

    And should be remembered every time a player has a good season with a team that didn't make the CL but 'wants to challenge themselves' at a higher level by moving to a team that did. In other words what would have happened under 'normal' circumstances had Leicester finished outside the CL places and Chelski finished inside. So what's the excuse from a player moving from a team in the CL to a team that isn't in it?

    "I’m moving to Chelsea because I’m a media whore through and through. While I could have had CL football, just as much money, and showed loyalty to the club that launched me to the top of the football world, I prefer being associated with a higher profile club, despite that profile resulting from notoriously dirty Russian oil money, and despite the club’s reputation as being famously hostile, quite above and beyond the racism endemic to the game, to those of my ethnic background. Yeah, I think I’m pretty despicable too, and if there were a God he’d see to it that I never see the CL, having turned up my nose at it this year."

    It's not like me to say something nice about West Ham, but I really don't understand the criticism of their transfer attempts.
    They're clearly aiming a little higher than they normally do and missing out on a few targets because of it, but why's that a bad thing?
    Lots of piss-taking and laughter online about it, but surely all clubs do this when they're trying to progress?

    We certainly made a few aimless punts a few years back, repeatedly going after fantasy signings that were never going to happen.
    I think that it laid a foundation for some of our more exciting signings of recent years though, the highlight probably being van der Vaart.
    Watching the reaction switch from mocking laughter to shock as that one went through was very satisfying, I must admit.

    I think that it's:

    1. they're spending my bloody money;
    2. they go after our targets and bid more than we do driving the price up for us when they're not really in the mix for the same quality;
    3. they are so bloody chavvy about the whole thing. Having money to spend is one thing, announcing how much to the whole world is another;
    4. in case there was any doubt, it's my bloody money you're parading around trying to waste you chavvy gits!

    I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

    Addendum - Carlos 'Chew' Bacca has rejected a move to 'You Know Where' in favour of making a move to 'Anywhere But There' despite the clubs agreeing a fee (which I bet nobody else comes anywhere near matching or even tries) and being offered a King's ransom in wages.

    Chelsea have completed their signing from Leicester.
    They now have Kante and Conte. Are they trying to tell us something?

    There's a very good reason to be critical: when we're linked to a player, within a couple of days the Spammers are announcing their interest.

    So far this summer it's happened with Janssen, Batshuayi, Lacazette, Calleri, Coric - which says that their scouting network is little more than checking the Spurs NewsNow page and hitting the refresh button every ten minutes.

    Almost as if they believe pursuing the same targets as Spurs makes them as good/class.
    Meanwhile, the Grauniad has Payets' agent denying the "100% staying" clam ... :D

  16. They just need Kunta Kinte and they'll have the set!! (And that one is much closer to describing the club!!)

    The bookies ought to lengthen the odds on Liverpool. Surely that's what's needed to get more of their fans to part with more money?

    Price them at 1000/1 and their dole money will be gone in a flash.

    No risk for the bookies - and a boost for the pay day loan companies too

    Leicester players scuttling off to clubs with bigger wage bills has been coming ever since Vardy's non-committal to a new contract until Arsenal started sniffing around.

    Shame on you, Luke! You should never encourage Mousers to gamble! They'll piss away all their dole money, have no money left to feed the wife and kids. Next thing you know they'll be reduced to petty theft and.....

    No, wait a minute!......
