He isn't a dirty player at all; times most of his challenges perfectly. I think the cards are simply accumulated because he is quite a physical player who gets short changed by all the fannying about that you get out there from players like Neymar and Ronaldo. Won't pick up anywhere near as many in the PL, especially as he will be wearing the colour shirt that most refs are apparently allergic to booking, as you say. Hopefully will be nothing more than the next Eliaquim Mangala.

How old is he? He's so clearly in the wrong, any functional adult would apologise especially once the suit was off the table.

City are in for Aubemayang according to Sky. So much for bringing through Iheanacho, what more does he have to do to prove himself?

Would love Itchy Nachos at Spurs - looks like he'll be one heck of a player unless he stays at the Manchester Crematorium of Young Talent.

Aubamayeng at City is frightening! Him, Aguero, de Bruyne and Silva is an incredible force.

I echo with others though in that what more does Kelechi have to do to establish himself?1 He looks an incredibly talented young striker and I'd have him at Spurs in a heartbeat if City feel he's not needed. Failing that and depending on what happens in regards to these Janssen rumours, a cheeky bid for Bony could be worthwhile. Wages may be an issue but I doubt the fee would be.

The Adebayor terms to apply? We get the player for bugger all and pay Spurs wages, Citeh just contribute £6m per season to top-up and sweeten the pot?

Bony is apparently close to a return to Swansea; there's no way they can match what City are paying him so it's either another Adebayor set-up as Brian says or the player is willing to take a huge pay cut for regular football. Either way, we'd be able to afford his wages. Certainly worth a look as prior to moving there he looked superb but months of sitting on a bench can ruin your confidence, not to mention that few City players beyond Hart and Aguero emerged from the wreckage of last season with any credit intact. It was a poor season all round.

City's problem last season wasn't scoring goals - they were the league's top scorers thanks to our 2 game capitulation at the end of it all. Their vulnerability at the back is what's costing them. Fernando and inho simply aren't good enough at DM, Kompany is the only world class defender at the club but is perennially injured and Hart lacks decent back-up. Pep needs a major overhaul of the back line before they can compete regularly for the title.

Even so with that sort of attack coming at you they could certainly win the battle of "we'll score more than you".

They definitely need an overhaul of the back line but having spent over £70m the last two seasons on Mangala and Otamendi they're in a bit of a sticky situation. Selling them would result in huge losses I'd imagine, whereas if they just added CB's there's going to be some very expensive flops huddling up together on the City subs bench. I think they're good at LB with Clichy and Kolarov (still doesn't stop Rose being linked!) but a younger RB would probably do them good, Sagna and Zabaleta are both over 30 now and are nowhere near their best.

Certainly on paper, but Kane, Vardy and (allegedly) Rooney are an incredible force too (well by England standards), but it doesn't mean they can play in the same team. I think there's an assumption that the Sky 4 will get back to their "entitled" places next season despite changing managers and half the team. It seems to be assumed that all the players (and managers) will adapt to PL football and be able to play in the same team. I'm not so sure. Obviously this won't be an opinion that the media "experts" have though, because they all seem to say the same thing (like Chelsea were going to win the league last year).

I’m starting to bore myself (not to mention everybody else :emoticon-0113-sleep) by recycling more or less the same comment year after year when teams try to buy a big chunk of their next year’s team. What’s astounding is the imperviousness of most of Britain’s best paid and most prominent football commentators to experience. We did it once, Liverpool did it twice. It doesn’t work. Last year almost everybody had Liverpool finishing ahead of Spurs, despite Spurs having a year of continuity and Liverpool a bunch of expensive odds and ends.

Agree completely. It's a particularly silly strategy in our position. Pochettino is obviously very good at building a teamwork ethic and getting the best out of players. The important players in our team have no correlation to the amount we paid for them. There is no evidence that we can pick out the highest value expensive players and to the extent anyone can the Sky 4 can simply pay more than us to sign them. Much better to continue to buy young high potential players and hope some of the signings pay off. Dier, Wimmer, Alli and Davies cost about the same as Vertonghen!

    Good news for the Mackems:

Defoe could conceivably overtake van Persie, Sheringham (who got married today), Ferdinand and Owen next season.
He would need to score at least 8 league goals and it would put him 7th on the all-time Premier League scorers list.
Fowler would be the next after that, but he's 20 goals ahead and that looks unlikely, at least in one campaign.

Would have him back at the Lane quicker than you can say 'Fat Sam'.

In other news, did Mr Edward Sheringham wear that ridiculous Del-Boy hat of his at the wedding ceremony?

In other, other news, turns out that Teddy's wife is just 2 years older than his son <yikes>
