The obvious connections between their owners and the Tories is rather problematic, though. They've literally given money to the people that have handed them a publicly funded stadium. So did Peter Stringfellow, now that you mention him!
For all our moaning about ENIC and THFC, the OS tender showed them as true businessmen galaxies beyond the nous of the Dildo bros, Boris and the Peoples republic of Haringey.
ssssshhhhhhh! Have you noticed a lot of Leicester fans coming out of the woodwork?Whatever next? Burnley and Boro.........? Dortmund...?
This season is the big one for us. Who cares what we do next season? There is no pressure on us to perform in Europe and, frankly, we can't do much worse than the other clubs.
I am actually quite happy that all the pundits are now saying Leicester have won it. With an eighth of the match to go they were saying Spieth had won the masters.....................
Ekshushe me Mr.Tottenham. I harve not been paid forsh allowing de Spursh victory dis weekend. I am'sh not pre-pared to bringsh down United without payment. Who do I schpeak to?
You cannot be paid until you do a press conference that has a presentation showing how you won the game for Spurs. <Allardyce>
Pretty sure there were two parts to the contract, one being to roll over at the Lane and the second was to do a number over Leicester on May 1st. Keep to the agreement please, Mr van Gaal, you will then be paid accordingly
I don't mean this in a patronising way, but anyone who understood the nature of the PL wouldn't have said this. In a nutshell, next season will be the difference between this year being an anomalous blip or the beginnings of long term stardom for you guys. I've said elsewhere that I fully expect your top players to stay next season, but do not underestimate how quickly things can change this high up Football Mountain. Just look at your own story for confirmation of this. One wrong step like Chelsea and United and suddenly you're stuck in an avalanche. If you flatter to deceive next year, take it from a fan of a club that has always had superb team spirit and players who largely love playing for, your stars will be picked off and no matter how good your scouting team is, it is easier to keep on driving than it is to reinvent the wheel. You also need several years of success to build your financial muscle up into a new weight division. This was one of Blackburn's terminal mistakes back in 94...they reached the peak but completely lacked a 'how to stay there' contingency plan, and when push came to shove they couldn't offer their players a fifth of what bigger clubs could. With football as globalised as it is, the financial infrastructure should be easier than ever to access. And people will want you to carry on your fairytale story on the biggest stage of them all in the CL. Take that tournament seriously or the bubble will burst very quickly. I don't want this to come across like a lecture; I'd like nothing more than for Leicester to establish themselves at the top and render United, Chelsea or Liverpool a permanent irrelevance. But to achieve this, my feeling is that you need a respectable CL campaign and another top 4 finish at least. Based on what we saw of your squad players in the FA Cup, you'll need quite a bit of investment for that to happen.
We know our place. We know that the big clubs will strengthen next year and we know that we've done this all too quick to build that sort of foundation. We might get there one day when we are consistently challenging for the title. Who knows? But right now we're living the moment and i'll happily take 6 games of not being embarrassed in Europe and probably a top 8 finish next season. Who knows? We might go on to finish top 4 again next season, but due to the amount of expenditure that's likely to come and the likes of Guardiola, Conte, Mouinho (possibly) and Klopp with a transfer market i'm expecting us to be further down. I'm expecting Liverpool, United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all to be in the top 6 next season. If we can nudge our way into that group then that'd be wonderful, but I'm not expecting it.
... a fair post Citizen and I tend to agree ... but the first priority for us is to get over the line if we can .. I suspect AKCJ, like many other Leicester fans, is only too aware that there is no such thing as a certainty in sport and still feels that the sword of damacles isn't necessarily secure above the fire place ... I think we are very different to Blackburn in that our footballing success is having incredible financial benefits for our owners in their business interests ...as such, if we do manage to hang on and take the title I am expecting some hefty investment in the team (in relative terms) and a possible expansion of the stadium ... the KP stadium was built structurally to a plan that would facilitate expansion to around 40k with minimum disruption ... would be surprised if this now takes place over the close season ... the owners may even explore whether this can be extended to 45k ... might sound ambitious but Leicester is actually the 10th biggest City in the UK, population wise - plus we have no league competition within the county boundaries unlike our near neighbours in Nottingham and Derby ...
What do you make of the claims in this morning's papers that you twiddled FFP rules two years back? If true, it sounds like you done something very similar to City's farcical sponsorship arrangement with Etihad for their stadium. They escaped with a slap on the wrist, but would the Football League be as scared of 'little old Leicester'? I think an immediate punishment of a 7-point deduction is in order http://www.theguardian.com/football...ball-league-financial-fair-play-investigation
Don't underestimate the value of a high energy team - as Leicester and Spurs have proved this season. You can spend tens of millions and won't be able to buy that. Also the pundits are simply assuming that a lot of players are going to come in and settle down immediately. I think that not only does that rarely happen, but often does not happen at all.
... the Football League can only punish us if we are back in the Football League ... like that could ever happen as to the 7 point deduction ... they can happily take them from our last campaign under their authority ... we'd still be top of the Championship in that season
