Before the season started, all we had to do was get more points than Man U, Man C, Chelsea and Arsenal, and we'd win the league. It looks a certainty we'll finish above all four and that should mean league victory.

Some deity changed the rules. This is where the bitterness towards Leicester lies.

Arsenal may have gone out of the FA Cup and seen their title challenge falter but majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has been nominated for a sports executive of the year award in America.

Somebody tell the Goons. Stan winning could become their new Emirates Cup.

“What did I learn specifically [from England]? You learn very quickly what that brand means, we have a gentleman who comes to Arsenal games, he flies his helicopter from South Africa, Cape Town to London quite often. It’s just an example of what a brand can mean, and what we can do in sports. We’re all working on that and that’s the big opportunity. Michael Jordan showed it - you can get paid a whole lot more if you can extend your brand. Manchester United showed it. They established benchmarks that people had thought heretofore unattainable, but their brand extension made people want to pay for it.” - Stan Kroenke.

Kompany off injured - repetition of same injury, Otamendi also off injured. Spammers in CL?????

Almost literally CL or bust for them it seems.

Spare a thought for the poor City fans. They thought with billionaires throwing money to the wind, they would have,AT THE VERY LEAST,4 trophies every season.
    What's gone wrong?

The current problem is an ageing squad lacking motivation to be serial winners. They brought in some younger players, but they really needed was a proven centre half, a box to box midfielder to replace Yaya and adequate back up for Aguero.

I'm not being a pessimist though RCL, that's what I think people are misunderstanding. I'm actually being exceptionally optimistic about our own run-in; I genuinely think we can hit 20 points out of the 24 available. I just can't see Leicester dropping the subsequently necessary 9 points needed for us to win the league. And to hear the arguments flying around on here as to why it is 'inevitable' that they will drop said points beggars belief at times. As MF says, Leicester's "run" has been going on for more than the duration of a season, and I have seen zero evidence that suggests it will come to an abrupt halt just because we want it to. Unless Vardy and Mahrez get clobbered by Wickham at the weekend, I cannot understand why we're so certain they'll slip up when of all the teams in the top 6, they've got unquestionably the best set-up to scrape the 1-0 wins that will see them across the finishing line.

A lot of teams need those players though. I think there is room for a new thread about next season to discuss such things as how all the top teams are going to completely replenish their squads at the same time (according to the "experts").

Kompany is their Ledley. Without him they area pale imitation of the side they can be with him. Add in that Aguero is also recurrently injured and Yaya now picks his games to turn up and this squad's time is well overdue for renovation. The one thing you get from having a stable management is that you have time to break up one side and build again.

Why should Pellegrini care about next season or the one after? When Fergie looked at his squad after RVP won him the league,he must have thought "**** it, this lot are done. Do I fancy 2 or 3 years rebuilding this?" Yesterday's men in the league always have a 'puncher's chance' in the cups, especially in Europe where the pace is more forgiving for ageing limbs as we know to our cost.

You do know that Arsenal has finished above Spurs every season under Wenger. Don't you think we'd have a better chance with someone else there?

The Standard are trotting out the "enjoy the pantomime villain while you can" shtick for Diego Costa.

Why should anyone "enjoy" a dirty cheat who should've had more than one red card in the last eighteen months? There's nothing "enjoyable" about watching him play, especially if you want to compare him to the last "pantomime villain" that was a constant source of constant irritation Luis Suarez.

You do know that in the past decade, Arsenal finishing below Spurs and haiving
it decided on the last day of the PL season is creeping ever closer to "coin toss" territory.

Don't they think they would have a better chance of continuing that by getting
someone new, rather than the luck finally running out and then going the way of the Poool ??
