More money? He gets 35 grand a week...pool have offered him 100 grand a week...how much ****ing money do these ****ers want.
If i was offered more money to do my job elsewhere i would take it...cos i am only paid £13,500 per year...that is less than a days pay for stirling with what pool are offering him.

He wouldn't be guaranteed a place at any of the clubs who could pay more than the £100K Liverpool are offering. He's better off being a bigger fish in a smaller pond than vice versa, unless he just wants to sit on the bench and pick up a big salary.

What have you been smoking? They paid 20 million for Downing so £36 million?

Well, I'd have him, but I don't see where he fits in unless di Maria is sold to PSG (as rumoured) and Mata is discarded again or he plays up front and Rooney plays in an advanced midfield role or wide again.

And if your current company offered you a big rise to £50k a year would you accept it if another better company was after you and willing to pay you an even bigger rise of £75k a year?

I'm sorry but if we as consumers are willing to pay to watch these teams regardless of the ridiculous prices, we can't then complain that players earn too much when we are playing a massive role in helping to fund their wages.

Given the nature of the current market, Sterling is perfectly entitled to reject the contract if he feels he has better prospects, both off the field and on the field, at another club.

If i earned 50 grand a year i would be well off. If i was offered 75 grand it would make a difference to my life. I fail to see what difference it makes when you are earning 100 grand a week and then want more. If i was paid 100 grand a week i would not give a **** about a pay rise...cos i would not be able to spend it.

and i am perfectly entitled to view him as a money grabbing twat who could screw up his career like swp and all those others did by chasing the money and sitting on cities or chelseas bench.

From your point of view, maybe. But from the players' perspective, if he feels like he's capable of fulfilling his potential at another club with the chance to earn more money and have a more successful career, who are we to say otherwise?

He is a very promising player at the age of 20 who, I think, is one of the best wide players in the league. What's wrong with him wanting to get nurtured and wanting to develop at another club? Given the talent and influence he has shown in Liverpool's first team at the age of 20, it is highly unlikely he would be warming the bench at the likes of City or Chelsea for a prolonged period of time.

And by the way - a footballer's career is very short. On average, it's from 18 - 34 (probably less for a player that has speed as an essential asset of their game). It's perfectly understandable that they will try and earn as much as they can within that timeframe if they have the opportunity to.

Is there too much money involved in football? Without a shred of doubt. However, if we want to blame the players for being greedy, we as fans are also culpable for making football a big part of our lives to the extent that we pay to go to games or pay for subscriptions on television/online regardless of the prices.

It is a harsh reality to accept but you shouldn't be complaining about a system of greed when you are also paying into this very system yourself.

Administratively the clubs are going to have to collude somehow to ensure these kids get deferred
financial gratification. They have no understanding of the fundamentals of LIFE, let alone money.

Brentonomics and possession by the "spirit of Shankley aside" , can
Spurcat find it in himself to be positive about anything Brendan has done on-pitch
or in the transfer market for the Poool ?? :)

Cottee was raving about Pritchard's performance today in the 4-1, although he came off after an hour so may have got himself injured.

Bournemouth have passed it around well but not done themselves justice infront of goal. Jones changed things for them though, great option to have on the bench if plan A isn't working. Don't think Pitman and Wilson have done Bournemouth any favours in a televised game by diving on a few ocassions. Bournemouth nearly nicked it at the end but a draw was about right, Fryers looked good at the back for Ipswich apart from a slip in the first half and Adam Smith had his shot cleared off the line at the death.

Yeah, I've just seen from looking at some of the match reports. From the sounds of it he was playing off the striker, which is where a few of my friends that watch him at Brentford reckon he's best off playing so watch out Eriksen! Might be worth having a look at Jota too, he's looked very impressive whenever I've seen him.

I do think it's difficult to judge a player on a great season in the Championship, as there have been plenty of Taarabts in the past that have struggled to perform in the step up to the Premier League, where you get less time on the ball. It's a very strong league this season though, lots and lots of quality sides with their own styles of football.
