He says he wants to win things. He also said in the interview that he needs to think about "where he needs to go." That doesn't sound good for Liverpool. It's hard to say where, if anywhere, he'll end up. I don't think he's Barca or Real material, but any PL club would like to have him, I think, if for no other reason than to take him away from Liverpool.
The guy is an idiot. He is 20. Lots of raw talent but still a lot to learn. He's achieved bugger all but seems to think he is already worthy of some grand move. Rogers is a bit of a twat but at Liverpool, Sterling will have a team around him playing to his strengths as he is their potential star. He would be an idiot to leave so soon. Where else would he go? Chelsea or City? Just look at their track record with young British talent.
How is he an idiot? He has the ability to start for better teams than Liverpool and to earn more money than they are offering because some clubs can afford more. In your job, if you were good enough to work for a better company than you currently do and for more money, would you try to move?
Where has he proved he can play for a better club? What has he done? He has buckets of raw talent but is not anywhere near the complete player yet. If he jumps ship and heads to City or Chelsea because they wave slightly more money under his nose then he is an idiot as his career will suffer because of it. At Liverpool he will have the chance to improve. £100,000 a week isn't exactly peanuts or insulting. There aren't many players in the Premiership earning more than that. Sign a new contract, play football and develop to be the best you can be. If the bigger clubs are that serious about him then a contract means nothing to them and they will splash the cash.
Depends. If it was also better for my career in the long term then yes. That is the thing Sterling needs to consider. He's hardly short of money now, let alone with whatever new contract he signs. Is Liverpool that bad of a "company"? I'd wager not
None of us knows what indications of interest his agent may have received ( also known as tapping up!) Maybe one of the European heavyweights is showing an Interest.
Sterling is being honest, don't see the problem as he isn't doing what most players do, which is a sign a contract they have no intention of seeing through and only signing the contract to get a better deal until a bigger club comes calling. With Sterling, he has decided not to sign the contract and it appears he wants to move away from Liverpool. which yes Rodgers will feel very disappointed by as I remember how much faith Rodgers had in Sterling by giving him a chance and putting him in the team but at his age this isn't about money so he will only look an idiot if he moves to a club and goes backwards. The goons would be a sideways step as both yourselves and Liverpool are very unlikely to win the title while City, Chelsea and Utd remain as the leagues biggest clubs but if he moves abroad to a leading club then I would say thats a smart move and brave.
Yeah, I'd agree. I can't see him moving to another English club. If he does, it'll be City or Chavski - where he'll end up sitting on a bench. However, if a club like Real, Barca, or Bayern are really interested, then I think he should go for it. It can only improve him as a player, if he's willing to be patient and learn.
Arsenal wouldn't be as much of an upwards step as City, Chelsea, Barca, Real or Bayern. But I'd say it would be a slight upward step from Liverpool. We have more money, make more money and are in the CL regularly and have couple of world class players already. In a year or two's time hopefully we can marry that up with a world class manager. At which point the gap with Liverpool will be even greater. But yes, the chance of him coming to Arsenal is next to none I agree.
The scousers are now calling him "average" and he won't be missed, but they should be more concerned with which player Rodgers will sign to replace him considering his recent record in the transfer market!
Why not Sterling to United? They're a more attractive prospect for trophies and they'd be able to pay him what he seems to want. If he had any loyalty to or respect for Liverpool he'd be keeping his head down instead of making comments to the media like he has been, and besides he's no Liverpool boy so he has no emotional connection to the club that couldn't be replicated elsewhere. He'd only end up on the bench at City or Chelsea, perhaps he'd have more chance of playing at the former to be fair as they lack serious quality in the wide areas. Moving abroad would be a big step for a young man but if I were him and were serious about walking away from big money at Liverpool then I'd be looking for one of the Manchester clubs or a foreign team.
Shaun Wright-Phillips made that mistake, moving too early and signing for Chelsea. He was a superb player at CIty for two seasons, comparing him and Sterling and you could say Shaun Wright-Phillips was a better player and funnily enough Keegan also used to play him at wing back. If Sterling wants an example of how potential can plummet by making the wrong move then thats a good example so he has to be making this move for the right reasons otherwise he could ruin his career but Utd aren't the same without Fergie and not sure they appeal that highly when compared with City and Chelsea.
I think United will be up there for the domestic trophies by the end of LVG's tenure Boss, the next appointment will be a difficult one to pick though. Sterling could be a big part of that revival though and the appeal of United is that he's more likely to get playing time there than at City or Chelsea, but he'll get the money and shots at trophies he wants there too. Its not a move that is likely to happen really but on paper it would be a good fit for him.
I'm not sure why Sterling looking to move on is such a surprise for Liverpool. He did it when he joined them from QPR five years ago.
It's not so long ago that Brendan was driving lorries for Waitrose. It seems to me that he is more suited to that than being a football manager. If there was a gold medal for spouting shyte, then Rodgers would win it by country mile.
