So united match the same result you got against relegation fodder and the media commence the circle jerking.

Yv will be placing a cheeky bet on Utd to finish ahead of City and us to finish top four.

  4. That sounds like fun! I've not heard of it before.

Is it a game we can all play?

Most sensible Utd fans won't, they'll just see it as an encouraging result and hope that van Gaal can build on it.
The media will lap it up and go massively overboard, though. They've already started and I'm sure that MOTD won't spend a massive chunk of their time focusing on QPR, as they did for us.

Backing QPR to go down might be best bet from today's game. They don't tackle/close down, they have players whose best is behind them (Rio, Green, Hill, Krancjar etc) or who have yet to prove they are good enough at this level and they look like a collection of individuals, not a team. Burnley lack quality too, but at least they look like a team who work for each other and know their jobs.

Nobody would suggest that playing well in effectively a practice game v poor opposition is a reason for optimism for Utd, but there was still enough to show that there are some top drawer players in the side, who will frighten much better teams. The test will be when Utd have to defend and win possession more often in midfield, but if Utd get plenty of the ball, any team's defence will be tested.

When we beat them 4-0, the opening lines of the BBC match report reads QPR "...beaten comfortably". When United win by the same score at home it's "tore apart" QPR. Biased bollocks.

Sums it up perfectly. But I still need to have a rant because of the undercurrent of entitlement that the media seem to have for ManU (and Liverpool), as if they have some divine right to be in the top four. Remember before the season started there were stories like 'it may be too soon for LVG go for the title this season', which kinds of sums up the assumption of greatness. Now the guy gets a vast amount to spend (more than we spent last year, which was of course not a net spend at all), equals our result against a poor team, and instead of 'QPR played badly' (against us) the angle is about how great ManU were. I bet the previous manager would have appreciated some of that money to spend! And apparently the board says ManU need to be top 3 and LVG says that's fine and the media think top 4 can be done (although they're often saying it will be from ManU, Pool and Arsenal for the other two places in the top 4 other than the untouchable two). Kind of disrespectful to us and Everton (and others).

Whereas Rodgers bemoans the "lack of quality". At least he's honest - was that your point? Bitter much now reality has dawned after your one world class player deserted you?

Beaten comfortably I understand because we should have won by six, tore apart because Utd were on their best form and only managed to beat them by the same as our off form score. Yes, I agree with the descriptions.

We had quite a few new signings in the side. You guys amd liverpool know how hard that is.

We did very well. A much better performance but plenty of room for improvement.

I've just read Moyes for Newcastle, wrong I think. Newcastle would benefit from a spell in the Championship as they are in a total mess.

Any rival fan who doesn't see what Utd have suddenly gained is kidding themselves. Whether it's enough for Utd to suddenly be a threat at the top of the league again is another matter - only time will tell- and a suspect defence will still be a factor. But anyone who doesn't fear playing a team with players of the quality Utd now have is foolish. Blind impressed me most - just what Utd have been lacking most, a midfielder who can protect the back four, break up play, bring the ball forward and be at the heart of keeping the ball moving. One game doesn't make a season, but one game did showcase the top class players Utd now have available and which no team will want to face.

<laugh>. What exactly would they benefit from that? The problem is that their defence is woeful and they still need time to gel.

Why, it's almost as if you had a net spend of about £113m in the last transfer window! <laugh>

Assessing the new signings against the likes of QPR is basically impossible, as they were all allowed to do whatever they wanted and never closed down.
Will this new look attack be able to function against even the most rudimentary resistance? Who knows? You'd have thought so, but it's still untested.
The defence still looked exceptionally vulnerable every time that the opposition managed to string a couple of passes together, so I doubt Mourinho or Pelligrini are too worried.

The point that most people seemed to be making, myself included, wasn't that Man Utd didn't play well or win well, but that the media would and did jump all over it like van Gaal was the second coming.
This was a very easy win against a team that are playing very poorly, in exactly the same manner that we managed a couple of weeks ago, even down to the identical scoreline.
We got 'Well, that defence is ****, isn't it?'. You get 'Back To Their Best! Gaalacticos! Title Challengers! Gaal's Galore! Fourtress Old Trafford!' and the like.
    It's a ridiculous contrast.

Pocket change that 113million. Its like your club spending a fiver.

And Pelligrini is worried. City have been dire themselves and lost to stoke ffs.

Your massive debt and the FFP rules which prevented you from signing Falcao without fudging them and forced you to sell Welbeck disagree.

You, on the other hand, lost to MK Dons. 4-0. And Swansea. And drew with Burnley and Sunderland.
I don't think that you can ignore those results because you beat a team who have been absolutely ****e so far, to be honest.

Can quite easily ignore those games now 14 players have been shipped out. 5 of the mkdons side too. A whole different united to the one we saw 2 weeks ago.

And we could have signed falcao. Twice over, paying triple his price and still passed ffp. Instead we loan him amd monitor his injury. If its fine then we sign him. If he hasnt recovered properly... He goes back. Very sensible.

In a few years when the debts gone, what nonsense will you come out with then pnp? I look forward to it.
