"However, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe chasing his signature, his departure from the Emirates was almost inevitable, and so it proved when he returned to the club that had nurtured him."

Official WUMming?

Does HIAG have a job at Stamford Bridge? Given his comments about the owner and various managers, I'm going to say no.

Ouch! Ozil, Ramsey, Wiltshire and Fabregas is a much better sounding central midfield pool than Ozil, Ramsey, Wiltshire and Arteta. Will Ramsay continue to impress next season? Will Wiltshire manage three games in a row without injury? Will Marty Feldman actually play to a high level for an entire season or will he continue to transform into Pointy-Shouty Man? Obviously Wenger has his eye on someone else to strengthen their midfield.... wonder who it is?

Abou Diaby will be like a new signing... best number 7 in the world <ok>

June 2014 Apperibay says:
'We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that's an important factor for Real Sociedad,'

Yes, that's what I said: Vela would rather stay at Sociedad, therefore "ouch!"

...but not as "ouch!" as your former captain doing this:

Thanks for setting yourself up so beautifully for that one!

Before any of you knee-jerk to a reaction (God forbid!), let me take you back a couple of seasons.

It was the last game of the season. Arsenal played a pointless away game (was it against the Spanners?), and decided to give their captain and talisman, Cesc Fabregas, a rest. However, instead of sitting in the stands and supporting his men, Fab decided to travel abroad to watch a Grand Prix (despite the fact that the reason for his being given leave to miss the game was that he was supposed to be exhausted). Many of us on this board were perplexed by Fab's actions, since surely he would have wanted to have been there with his comrades, if only to celebrate the loyalty of the fans, who loved Fab, and who had sang and shouted his name for many, many seasons? Fab saw things differently. It was clear to all who could open their eyes and look, that he couldn't wait to get out of AFC and away from both the fans and those who he had captained. In short, it was a betrayal.

We all saw it. His return to his "boyhood club," Barca, was understandable, but to so readily trounce the loyalty and devotion bestowed on him by the Arsenal fans? Unforgivable!

How did the Gooners react to this betrayal of their love? They loved him even more. They forgave him almost instantly. "Don't worry," they all said, "this isn't really a betrayal, because our god and saviour, Whinger, has insisted on a "buy-back" clause being inserted into our beloved captain's contract. In fact," they all said, "Fab insisted on such a clause being drafted into his contract."

"Arsenal is the only Prem club I will ever return to," it was claimed that Fab had declared, with tears in his eyes (and, no doubt, whilst passionately kissing the badge of his old Arsenal shirt).

We all laughed. We knew that Fab was never going back, like so many former Arsenal players (Nasri, Troure, Bentley, to name but a few). We knew that Fab's departure to Barca would be a short one, and that it was done in order to disguise Fab's real intent, which was to play for United or £ity.

But every single Gooner on this site comforted himself in the belief that Fab really did love them and that, one glorious day, he would return to them. Looking back, one can readily see that it was the only way that most Gooners could cope with the pain of Fab's loss. Those of us that suggested otherwise were censured on their site and even banned.

Well, Fab has returned, but not to AFC. Not to United or to £ity - that may have been understandable, perhaps even forgivable - money is what most players covet, after all. No. He's taken a wage-cut to go to Chelsea, a move that could be rendered more heinous only had he joined the mighty Spurs.

Poor Gooners! They have had ripped from them, in the most cruelest fashion, the last remnant of self-deluded doubt, that Fab had any intention of ever returning to their club. Yes, we can choose to laugh at them and their pain, but perhaps some of us may pity them. Okay, perhaps not "pity" them as such, but at least understand their confusion and deep sense of betrayal...

No? okay, fair enough.

There never was a buy-back clause. Fab never said anything about returning, or, if he did, he was ripping the piss. And those of us who decried Fab's disgraceful and disrespectful behaviour at the end of his least season with AFC have been proven to have been correct; and this fact is so starkly and cruelly juxtaposed by how so very wrong the Gooners were to have believed any of his lies and deceit.

Will any of us - who wrote so passionately on this very subject at the time - ever receive any thanks from those Gooners who jeered and mocked us and said such hurtful things? Yes, I'd like to think so. I, for one, will accept such apologies with grace and humility.

In the meantime, I am looking forward to seeing how Gooners greet their former captain, when Arsenal plays Chelsea. Will they have it in their hearts to cheer his name and to forgive these further sleights? Or will they vent their anger and burn his effigy from the terraces? Only time will tell.

HIAG makes out of character attack on Arsenal

Straying from his usual fair and balanced comments HIAG, without a semblance of mercy, associates Arsenal with Bentley thus reducing the faithful to tears as this forgotten connection is revived. In an otherwise Fab article. <ok>

A glowing review, mate.

To be fair to Fabregas, it doesn't seem that he had the option to return to Arsenal.
I'm sure he'll still get endless abuse for joining Chelsea though, which is a fair reaction to anyone playing for them, in my opinion.

And YV has a rival in sarcasm

Jesus! Has anyone been across to the Gooners' board recently? I thought the Mousers were deluded, but the Gooners have surpassed even their worst excesses, over this Fabregas affair.

You've got one Gooner in particular (I am barred from ever mentioning PISKIE's name), who even believes that Whinger didn't buy Fab because he didn't want him! I nearly pissed in my pants when I read that!

Overall, I sense that the Gooners are in a deep state of shock. I don't think that Fab's move to Chavs has really sunk in quite yet; and I don't think it will until they see Fab in the blue of Chavs, kissing their badge, and proclaiming The Smug One to be the greatest manager of all time, and telling the press that he wants to win the league, not for Chelsea, but for John Terry, whom he has always considered to be the best defender in the world. Then, it just might sink in for the Gooners. Poor souls.

The amusing bit over there is people saying that they didn't want him on a thread where there was a vote saying that they did! <laugh>

If the money was spent elsewhere then most of us could understand not buying him. I think we all know whether it will be though...

Hey, he's another creative or attacking midfielder and you've got a ton of those. He's a big improvement for Chelsea, though.
