No clear ones, which is also surprising...Real are not renowned for their airtight defence.

Can't believe how bad Mandzukic was in that second half, constantly missing and rarely available in a good position and capped it all off by missing a great chance(which was never a pen). He's a great player but he doesn't really fit in at Bayern and should be seen more as a plan B than a starter.

Pepe and Ramos were immense at the back, none of the silly fouls and losses of temper that you associate with them. Modric wasn't half bad either.

So who's going to win the tie? I couldn't pick a winner, Real have a title to chase at the weekend whilst Bayern have another friendly to experiment as they've got the league wrapped up.

    Advantage Real Madrid.

Even Utd showed Bayern to be vulnerable on the counter - without the pace and ability of Ronaldo and Bale. Madrid must go there knowing that one away goal should do it. If they get men behind the ball the tippy-tappy kings will do very well get score three.

As with last night, Real will feel that all they have to do is score in Munich to have a good chance of going through. Especially if they can also defend as they did tonight. Certainly given Pep something to think about. It could easily have been much worse if Real had taken any one of some very good chances.

You have to say, Ancelloti 1 Guardiola 0

You have to fancy one or both of CR7 and Bale to do them on the counter.

And I'm looking hard at a Great Satan vs. Antichrist CL final. Well, much as I hate Real, I've got to pull against Chelsea. I swear the thing which ticks me off most about Real is their giving Coutinho to Liverpool. What a difference he has made for them.

Let Van Gaal go to Man U, as far as I'm concerned. I think his man management will come back to bite him in the ass wherever he goes. It's a good point that our squad is in better shape than Man U's, I think. There are various question marks and trouble spots, but the only crucial one, to me, is whether either Soldado or Ade will have a 15-20 goal season next year.

One of the dirty secrets of many sports is the degree to which officials determine the big prizes. The NBA may be the ultimate example, with a foul possible on most plays and games determined by a few points out of 200. But the NBA officials are pretty competent professionals. Football officials are wretched as a group, especially in being very easily intimidated. I'm starting to think the reluctance to move towards using technology is due to the fact that it will be harder to slant results, and/or more outrageous when they are slanted.

  8. I certainly do not want Chelski to win the CL, not with their brand of dull, unentertaining, park-the-bus, anti-football.

I'd rather boil my own knob and call it a saveloy.

Obviously, it would be a jumbo saveloy.

And I'd rather Chelsea win then see my chorizo endure temperatures of anything over 98.6 F.

    But not by much.

Barca were linked with Verts a few months ago - which, coincidentally, is when he started acting like a tart.

Garay's put Benfica 1-0 up against Juve after a couple of minutes. Wonder where he'll be playing next season?

  15. Jose Mourinho said Chelsea are the most important English club in Europe and says fans believe they deserve more respect for their continental exploits.

What? Like the respect he gives to refs?

  16. Jurgen Klopp has ruled himself out of the vacant Manchester United managers job but apparently his brother Klipperty is very interested.

Do you think I should post that comment on the United board?

As they are the only English team in Europe, by Moron's own logic that would also mean they are the least-important English team in Europe and deserve nothing but disdain for fluking their way into the last four thanks entirely to PSG flaking out in the second leg.

Ryan Giggs says he wants to insert some passion into Man Utd.

Funnily enough, he said the same thing to his best mates' wife as well...
