You lost Luis Suarez though . Liverpool have only the fifth highest wage bill you know, do you still think Liverpool should be doing better ?

Is this what you're resorting to now??

I guess your fantasies about Southampton being a better team than us didn't last too long. When did that bubble burst? <laugh>

We simply can't financially compete and Liverpool have a much higher wage bill.

Oh yes, that's the argument I had with Astro who thought that because our squad was 5th in terms of cost, then we should rightly be 5th. That is some **** justification of Rodgers . Because the saints have the 15th most expensive squad, they should be 15th by right.

The mancs City and United should be beating every team they play. The manager, tactics, the suitability of the buys, motivation, injuries etc have nothing to do with it. It is all about the money and the cost. <doh>

Us wise, long term football supporters knew this at the very start of the season. Only the inexperienced and naive followers of football thought you would be able to keep your form up throughout the season with such a tiny squad lacking in quality. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be as wise and experienced as us one day, and you won't be fooled by these little clubs stringing a few wins together and being hailed as the new Dortmund by the media and the naive <ok>

Do you remember such silly excuses during Liverpool's period of " resurgence" buddy ? Or will Liverpool always be the David in the fight against the financial Goliaths in the higher echelons of the PL ?

Think you might be arguing with a guy that agrees with you here <whistle>

Firstly I don't understand the relevance of bringing Colchester United into this. Secondly Southampton have a lot to be proud of, the team exceeded expectations and put in a great shift. Liverpool on the other hand embarrassed themselves in Europe and allowed Man Utd to break them mentally, as usual the classic excuses have been rolled out and Liverpool fans are having difficulty understanding what the rest of football knows, you are mediocre and that PL ain't coming ever <ok>

You aren't taking context into account.

There will always be some team in the league that overachieves. It is total illogical nonsense to use that as a justification i.e. Southampton fluked one season 5 places higher than their fees and wages imply, therefore we should be able to come 5 places higher. Well next season Southampton will fall away. Like Swansea did before them. And Newcastle did before them. But there will be some other team who makes a great start to the season and then they will be the ones morons will be saying "but they're above us after 6 games and spent less than us OMG how is it possible!?"

This has been a terrible season for us. Yes some of it down to Rodgers but not all. The loss of Suarez (gone as soon as he bit at the World Cup), the injuries to Sturridge (starting with England), the retirement of Gerrard (unavoidable but Rodgers has handled the transfer of captaincy to Henderson as well as any manager could), buying young players who will take some time to settle, etc. And even still we are in 5th place, with the 5th most expensive squad and 5th highest wage bill.

If you can have an absolute ****ing shocker and still hit par, then it's not the end of the world. This isn't meant to excuse any [HASHTAG]#legit[/HASHTAG] criticisms of Rodgers, just provide some perspective.

If you want to see what a bad manager really looks like, gaze across Stanley Park. Everton have the 7th most expensive squad, made their biggest individual signing in the history of their existence, outspent us by £9m in net terms, and are sat not 1 or 2 places below us like their investment suggests, but 6 places (17 points). And that's even with us being **** FFS!

Like what? Having a team apparently good enough to qualify for champions league but in the bottom half in the form table from January onwards? Either Koeman is terrible or you overachieved in the first half of the season. I can't see how that would be possible though seeing as you apparently had a better defence than us, better midfield & better striker.

Where has your confidence gone mate?? You wanted to be one of the "big boys". Now that you are being judged by the same criteria as them you are getting all emotional.

Total bullshit. The price a team pays for a player and the wage they give him does not make him a better player than one who cost less and is on a lower wage. A team is built from players who fit into the structure of that team, not the best player in each position so cost or wages are irrelevant to the success of the team as a whole.
What the **** does Everton breaking their transfer record have to do with anything, do you expect one man to carry the whole team.........oh, sorry forgot Suarez.

Are you Van Gaal in disguise?

Speaking of Suarez, he didn`t cost you very much and his wages were reasonable for a premier league player so i suppose he over achieved with you. Now he is at Barca with a big price tag and wage you would think he is just meh.

Yep, talk about anyone but Di Maria and Falcao. Definitely Van Gaal.

Ronaldo at Madrid is only doing what is expected for the price but that Messi fellow is way over achieving, he cost nothing.

Falcao was a test, he has been crocked and it seems he will not get back to what he was.
Di Maria is a good example of why the cost of a team means **** all. Thank you for pointing that out <ok>

Why do you seem so bitter tonight??

Did something happen today??

Just helping the Saints lad out because he was trying to make realistic points and getting blather in return <ok>

EDIT...Except from Carl who was being reasonable.

So a "WUM" gets a taste of his own medicine and you think he needs helping out?

You do understand that he has shown no desire for any rational debate or reasonable discussions on any topic since signing up to the forum? He's well known to Liverpool, Portsmouth & Southampton fans for being a WUM. He doesn't deserve a sensible response to anything he posts and that's all down to him and the way he decided to post on the forum when he first joined.

Only caught the last couple of pages but he seemed quite reasonable. I did point out he was arguing with someone who agreed with him at one point though <ok>

Think this was his first post:

Another tainted win for penaltypool brought about through referee bias. 2 players should have been sent off and 2 penalties conceded but of course as always the powers that be will always favour liverpool.

I guess he was started as he meant to go on.
