If he'd stayed on his feet the penalty would not have been given, so the dive is the main issue.

Finally. We are getting somewhere.

You are exactly right Page and I for one am pleased you have caught up.

Far to often penalties are not given because a player doesnt go down thus the offender is rewarded by not being punished. It was without doubt a penalty but as you say, if Rooney had stayed on his feet (if he could of course) then the ref is likely to be too incompetent to give the call.

This is a ref who decided a tackle from behind that was so late it could have taken place a few days after the game didnt warrant a second yellow.

Luckily his linesman knew the rules of the game and prevented further poor calls.

Well done for finally getting it though Page. Treat yourself to a glass of sasparilla pop <ok>

Young Boys should be winning but their sloppiness has cost them big

That's the problem with a winter break like they have just come back from

The penalty wouldn't have been given because it wasn't a penalty. Rooney conned the referee. He dived and he cheated.

You are right the referees don't always give the decision and that encourages players to dive though. Just piss poor timing to argue the point <laugh>

I asked this yesterday and you never answered.

If a player makes a crazy two footed lunge on the other side of the pitch with no other player within thirty yards, is it a foul?

This example is on a part with the so called Rooney penalty!

It didnt warrant a response and it doesnt now but seeing as I have already started...

Its in no way the same thing. At all.

Lukaku should have five by now. Missed two tap ins since competing the hat trick

You've been smoking to much skunk, Rooney dived, Rooney apologised for it and we move on, don't we?

It was a penalty according to the laws of the game. Contact doesn't even need to be made. A foul can be awarded for the intent.

Its spelled out very clearly in FIFA rules of the game. Along with pictures for those confused about the offside rule too.

Very true.. and no one it saying contact doesn't have to be made for it to be a foul.

But Rooney still dived... he fell over after having no contact. That's a dive...

Who cares! Utd are cheating ****tards, always have been! They just have to do it on the pitch and more often now since Fergie retired
