So, you think he is getting more off us than he got off Monaco?

No, but rather than take a pay cut and go to the "club of his dreams Madrid", he didn't want to lose out so only went to the club willing to match his wages <ok>

Or a club in the same city that could offer better trophy possibilities and CL football #didntmoveformoney <ok>

Funny thing is, the Man Utd fans think we are just saying it because he joined them. In actual fact, Pepe Reina got criticise for the same thing after joining Bayern. He's clearly not going to dislodge Neuer and had a host of other decent clubs to choose from but he didn't want to lose out on any money <doh>

Anyone know why he left Monaco if he only wanted the money? Seems strange leaving a club where the football is less demanding and the lifestyle and weather is much better just to get the same wage if money is all you are after, obviously nothing to do with Champions League or anything like that.

I might have missed a "n't" out there

why would him getting the same amount at both mean he wasn't a greedy ****er at Monaco?

Obviously it is his (or his agent's, or both) prime motivation. Why else would he have gone to Monaco in the first place , and now, at the age of 28, be prepared to spend at least another year in the CL wilderness?
But don't upset the Utd fans who need to believe he chose them over all others because he's in love with the club.
Or possibly the climate in the North West of England.
Which is equally plausible.

Fair enough, who did you get in the CL group stage btw? <whistle>

Or let me guess, you sold the club to him and convinced him you'll be back in the CL next season? Funny that this was never a possibility for Liverpool when we weren't involved :p

Oy, i was being serious. He obviously hasn`t come for Champions League, so if the money is the same and the lifestyle and weather worse, why has he come?

As I said above. He had interest from Man City too:

- Both clubs are in Manchester (or near as <whistle>)
- Maybe Woodward and LVG sold the club enough to convince him they could challenge for the title too so lets allow that one
- Man City have a better squad but again, lets this slide since Woodward / LVG are so persuasive
- Only one can offer CL football
- He's never claimed to be a Man Utd fan

Why choose Man Utd over Man City?

Asking why he left Monaco is a different question to asking why he joined Man Utd. He could have been forced out of Monaco. Maybe he fell out with the manager or chairman? Maybe he doesn't like warm weather <laugh>. Whatever, there are reasons he could have wanted to leave which are basically the same as just about every player that moves.

The question is, why a club that's not in the CL when he could have gone just about anywhere had he not held out for a such high wages? Especially when one so close by where showing interest who happen to be the current PL champions and CAN offer CL football! Simple, you were willing to give him the money he wanted and no one else was!
