No it hadn't been discussed <ok>

Now that we are discussing it, I agree with you, it was a red - even under provocation players can't put their hands in another players face - but I think it should have been red for Mason as well.

  2. Can't say I disagree but going by the rules, Mason's was just a booking.

By the rules the off the ball shove before Benteke turns around was a red before the headbutt even comes into it

The FA's stance is very clear though; any level of violent conduct or physical intimidation or assualt is acceptable so long as you keep your arms in a stiff straight down position #loophole

That's what mine was based on too, although I'd already found it on youtube before astro posted it here.

I said fans taking phones and ipads to games came in handy, that clip was on youtube almost as soon as it happened <laugh>

If you genuinely think that's a red card then you really should take up knitting.

Maybe that's because they did almost get a draw <doh>

As City bottled it in the last 15 and dropped right off, United had a number of good chances to equalise and had they have done, then City would only had themselves to blame.

He knows nothing about football. He thinks a narrow and fortunate 1-0 loss is a thrashing.

You're fully aware of the level you are discussing with. Unless yiu break it down into stats hes got no clue.

Statistacally it wasnt a red card offence from mason.

    Now he understands.

Team in "not as advanced when winning as when not winning" shocker* <yikes>

*where average position when not winning is every non-CB outfield player in the opponent half

By the same hypothetical scenario, Van Gaal almost got sacked. If the ref isn't Oliver (weak as ****) then 3 penalties and another red are given, Man Utd go on to lose about 6-0 after completely collapsing, and banners are ordered for planes

I saw both games. Utd did better v chelsea (at hme) than they did v city. Utd rode thier luck big time v city who constantly stretched you and you barely created a chance. Chelsea played solid, they also shut down after 60mins which was extremely negative from cheslea. No doubt due to the fact they were down to drogba who couldn't run much up front.

City faded badly v utd. I feel they have just secured thier first win in 4 for a reason. they better get yaya's ego in check and deal with his lack of legs. Pelligrinin left it 4-4-2 v 4-4-1 and utd honeslty out manned city in midifeld before smalling did one and after competed. city subbed of jovetic for dzeko and nasri for milner and did nothing until they took off aguero to shore up on 84mins to actually rectify those legs in midfield

Trust me... city have an issue here that bigger than utd.. they are going to run out of steam.

that is f'n hilarious. the only thing fortunate about it was the fact you didn't let in 5.

2 saved from aguero first half and 2 ironed on pens not given.

I would give utd credit however. they did thier best and dug in... showed a bit of bottle. You always have to give credit for that.

Do pens equal a goal? No. They are simply chances.

We had 19 chances v chelsea. I guess we should have battered them?

The incorrect refereeing decisions don't make the statement that they nearly got a draw wrong though, as they did, whether deserved or not isn't the point, it's a simple fact they nearly snatched a draw at the end.

Oh and camping on the edge of your own box when playing a side who've been down to 10 for over half the game isn't standard fair, they bottled it and the crowd sensed it as well.

But how many teams get credit for having a bit of bottle (at the cost of £230m invested) in the form of a 1800 word pep talk paid for by the licence fee?
