You said Mason nutted him, so that's a red, Gerrez said it was nothing more than a yellow for him, ergo he didn't. So he disagreed with the nonsense conclusion that Mason butted Benteke

Refreshing seeing both chelsea and city concerned about us. City especially so as they clearly went for the kill and couldnt beat van gaals tactics. Dzeko, nasri both came on after the goal. At the death agurro went off.

  7. Only you could attempt to use those regular substitutions as some sort of justification of Man City being concerned <laugh>

Every week, they make changes that include top players leaving and entering the game. Its quite simple really, they have a squad full of them so unless they make no changes at all, it happens every game <doh> Oh, and Aguero hardly ever plays ninety minutes.

Some are trying to say city went easy on us. The fact is they didnt. They wanted to kill us off but didnt expect us to take control of the game. It panicked them as they were expecting to keep us pegged back and add anotyer goal or 3. Thats how it usually goes.

Encourage signs for united fans even in defeat.

Encouraging signs? You played well for 15 mins of the entire game. If you consider that encouraging, then I worry.

Not to mention the fact that City should have 2-3 penalties and Rojo sent off.

Phil Mccunty outlines #bbcsalford's position on Van Gaal

Basically, they admit jumping on the #moyesout bandwagon as soon as it looked like winning the PL wasn't going to happen, and that Moyes was actually better, but Van Gaal will still get the full season without being asked any difficult questions because he is so "charismatic"

UiR is right city didn't go easy.

city in fact came up against a packed defence and did their best to break a 4-5-1 what became 5-4-1 half the time down.... the bigger issue for city is how they ran out of midfield steam (yaya toure in particular) after 70mins.

Was it a factor of being out manned in there or is it further evidence of yaya not being the same force any more?

    As for encouraging signs.

    yes there are some positives.

    1. Van gaal has been able to figure out the prem is a physical league and has adjusted himself... this is a good thing from an experienced man.

    2. Van gaal has proved for two game sin a row that while he cannot get the players he has to be a threat to a top side he can organise them well and make it a challenge. A well organised side is half the battle.

Those two things alone are something to look forward with if a successful january (will be too late except for 4th by then) and a successful summer can be achieved.

    3. Add De Gea to that as a real asset who's stepped up over last 2/3 seasons to world class and another success will be getting him on a long term contract.

however for every positive there's also a negative.

    1. RvP got bossed.. badly and didn't offer much. Its a simple case of ruthlessness needed there. If falcao can regain his edge and fitness full time I feel RvP won't be first choice for utd long.

    2. Utd competed due to dropping rooney into a midfield role in all but name and he was covering RB, LB and all over the place.. a typcial I'm back rooney perofrmance... that won't last but It did give the numbers to compete. while a felliani and blind duo is combative and robust it lacks quality and that issue will hurt.

    3. The center of defense is an eyesore.

to my mind utd can either be judged by arsenal's standards (much lower in past 10 years than utds former standard) that being 4th or by the top of the league club they should be aspiring to.

4th... is nowhere. LFC 10 years ago Last may sacked gerard houllier for getting 4th. that was pre oil money. Now 4th is some sort of achievement? well sorry but no. there's no silverware for 4th.

Utd can get 4th if they can compete with southampton... (not us, we are on a slippery slope) but thats not utd its a step towards where they would want to be in my view and theres 4/5 players still required min to get there.

RB, RCB, LCB (rojo aint good enough) CM, and probably another striker?

Thats my honest view without applying any LFC bias.

If you want my view on LFC I can give that.

  12. I didn't watch the game so I have no idea how it went but i find it amusing that you claim Man Utd have encouraging signs from things that Man City did <laugh>

He's extrapolating, at the current rate of decline Man City might stop winning all the derbies a few seasons from now <laugh> <ok>

Each and everyone of you wrote us off for both games. Its didn't go as you 'all' expected (especially gerrez).

Whatever we did we made chelsea and city wary. If they are concerned then you can bet your bottom dollar the rest will be concerned.

Very confident about the next 2 months. 24 out of 30 points i reckon.

Concerned with what exactly? They both controlled and dominated large parts of the games?

It went exactly how I expected

Man Utd absolutely thrashed in both games and the hopes of a draw only kept alive by some of the worst refereeing performances since Fergie

You didnt see either game. That much is clear.

At no point did city or chelsea dominate. United were the better side against chelsea. Mourinho and a few bitters aside everyone tends to agree. The stats back up what most peoples eyes saw.

Pre red card united were on top. Not massively but on top. Citu for half an hour after tge red dominated. Fully expected. For the last 20 united with en men and no centre backs were on top.

Ive seen united get dominated in games. The last two were nowhere near.

Put it this way, if you had performed as we did, there would be an open top bus parade today.
