Devastated to learn just now the Walter Becker, bass player extraordinaire and founder member of Steely Dan has joined the ranks in the sky.
Awesome musician who could play a mean lead guitar, too.
A very sad day for the world of music. RIP

edit - the biggest irony of all is I had a Steely Dan track play on my mp3 player en route back from Nodge tonight ...and I had no idea at the time!

Sad loss - am due to see Steely Dan at the O2 in October - this may not happen now with his the untimely departure. RIP Walter - rock on in Heaven.

Yes, borne out by a short obituary in the Times today, saying he missed some U.S. recent gigs "as he recovered from an unspecified ailment."
