Veteran British actor Leslie Phillips, known for his roles in several Carry On films and the Harry Potter series, has died aged 98.

The star died "peacefully in his sleep" on Monday, his agent Jonathan Lloyd confirmed.

Phillips made his first film appearances as a boy in the 1930s and went on to have an illustrious career on stage and screen, particularly in the Carry On films - which included Carry On Teacher, Carry On Columbus, Carry On Constable and Carry On Nurse.

He became well known for his suggestive catchphrases such as "Ding Dong!", "Well, hello", and "I Say!".

Former England striker David Johnson, the first man to score for both Liverpool and Everton in the Merseyside derby, has died aged 71.

Johnson, who scored six goals in eight appearances for England, had been suffering from throat cancer.

He had two spells at Everton in between playing for Ipswich Town under Bobby Robson and Liverpool for Bob Paisley.

In six years at Anfield from 1976 Johnson won three league titles and the 1981 European Cup.

    RIP David <rose><rose>

Former Scotland international Doddie Weir has died at the age of 52, six years after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

Weir, capped 61 times between 1990 and 2000, went on to raise millions through his My Name'5 Doddie foundation following his diagnosis in 2016.

The lock was given an OBE in 2019 for services to rugby, to MND research and to the Borders community.

    Truly inspirational man. RIP Doddie<rose><rose>

Actress Ruth Madoc, who starred in the BBC sitcom Hi-de-Hi!, has died aged 79, her agent says.

Her agent said she died in hospital on Friday afternoon after surgery for a fall she had earlier in the week.

Phil Belfield of talent agency Belfield & Ward Ltd described her as a "unique talent loved by many".

He paid tribute to her "iconic" TV performance as Gladys Pugh in the 1980s comedy Hi-de-Hi!, about a holiday camp in the late 50s

    RIP Ruth, Hi-de-Hi, Ho-de-Ho, <rose><rose>

Yes, I heard that George had died - one of the quietly efficient players who let his football do the talking in the days when loyalty was more commonplace. Rest in peace, George. <rose><rose>

Maxi Jazz, the lead singer of British dance act Faithless, has died aged 65.

Former bandmate Sister Bliss said he died "peacefully in his sleep" in his south-London home on Friday night.
Faithless were known for singles including God Is A DJ, We Come 1 and Insomnia, a top three hit in 1996.

Insomnia used to be what the teams ran out to at Carra many moons ago, I seem to remember.
    RIP Maxi <peacedove> <rose>

Brazilian football legend Pele, arguably the greatest player ever, has died at the age of 82.

He is credited with scoring a world record 1,281 goals in 1,363 appearances during a 21-year career, including 77 goals in 92 matches for his country.

The only player to win the World Cup three times, lifting the trophy in 1958, 1962 and 1970, Pele was named Fifa's Player of the Century in 2000.

    RIP, legend. :emoticon-0106-cryin
