Rod Temperton, the British songwriter best known for Michael Jackson's Thriller and Rock With You, has died.Was from Cleethorpes and wrote for and was a member of Heatwave (Boogie Nights etc.).

That's upsetting news. Temperton wrote some absolute classics.

I heard this today and wasn't aware of his origins... Some absolute Classics as AR has already said. You just hope that someone with two brain cells at City of Culture is all over this. Surely when you're looking for icons (maybe too strong a word) for such an event you have to make people think crikey Hull had some really amazing people. I was thinking about the origins of football and what has been done about that. Excuse my ignorance for the name of the man involved who was from Hull..

just found out about this, and it's someone that has to be acknowledged for contributions to british music.

jack good, 7 aug 1931 - 24 sep 2017, 86 years old. responsible for early tv music shows - particularly six-five special, oh boy!, and shindig! - and was behind hit singles for lord rockingham's XI. later went on to acting, and tv and theatre production.
