RIP thread May

Soundgarden were one of the first bands I listened to as a troubled youth (along with Sonic Youth, Anthrax, Slayer and Nirvana). Cornell had a brilliant voice and a great stage presence. Audioslave were pretty decent too.

Frank Sykes (89) England and Yorkshire Rugby Union winger in the 50-60s, played over 70 times for Yorkshire in a great partnership with Captain and center Jeff Butterfield . A dear family friend and teacher and coach of my three sons. RIP Frank...we'll miss you pal.

RIP Roger Moore, at least he made it to a decent age. I still think he was the worst James Bond ever though :emoticon-0100-smile

Sir Roger Moore has died of cancer aged 89.

Bit of a shock, I wasn't even aware he was ill.

One of my favourite stories about him was from someone who worked on The Wild Geese. Richard Burton and Richard Harris were in the film. Everyone was saying sparks would fly when they got drinking together. First session involved those two along with Roger Moore. Moore drank them under the table, leaving them slumped asleep as he bid everyone goodnight. Next morning he was first on the set, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Apparently this came as no surprise to those who had worked with him before and seen his ability to down copious amounts of alcohol.
Always liked him as he was self deprecating about his abilities and didn't take himself too seriously like so many in his profession.
Anyone of my age will have fond memories of coming home from school and watching this -

RIP to the innocent, defenceless, mainly young people killed in the Manchester atrocity, who were entitled to go out and enjoy themselves and expect to return home safely, purely in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, heartfelt sympathies to all the families, who again had the right to expect their loved ones to go out and return safely. Just devastating.
