The more casual music fans out there.

Wrongly might be the wrong word (ironically), sadly probably is better.

Don't think that is the case. Hardly a week goes by without some mention of his involvement with the .Beatles. Though younger, 30 or so and under, can be forgiven for not being au fait with these things which happened 50 years ago, especially if they are not fans of the Beatles anyway. To put it in context, it would be like me having an interest and knowledge of what happened musically in 1908 when I first heard the Beatles.

1908? You did well there then. :emoticon-0105-wink:

on one occasion (I forget the name of the song) John turned round to Sir George and said "Look, on this song we are doing absolutely none of your $hit. This is just our stuff"!

I think Lennon made that comment when the Beatles decided to dispense with George Martin's services for the entire Let It Be album. They regretted it though and asked him back for Abbey Road.

Have you listened to Let It Be Naked? It sounds so much better than the Spector original.

Well, it is 54 years since the Beatles first record so going back 54 years before that would be 1908. No one expected in the 1960s that the music would still be so popular all this time later.
I send to think in the sixties how my dad could recall things from the war. The arrogance of youth. It was only 20 years previously and of rather more importance than pop songs which 50 years and more later I can recall with great clarity and the bands I saw. More easily than more recent events. Maybe that is because they meant more.

I was taking the mick out of your wording, hence the wink... don't worry, I knew exactly what you meant.

It wasn't a case of dispensing with. They wanted to get on with the album and George Martin was tied up with something else. It was Lennon who was the prime mover in involving Spector. Much as I liked the Wall Of Sound and some of his great productions his handling of Let It Be just didn't work.

And how was the wording wrong, just as a matter of interest?

Since you're being pedantic and a right killjoy...

"To put it in context, it would be like me having an interest and knowledge of what happened musically in 1908 when I first heard the Beatles."

So you heard the Beatles in 1908 did you?

Obviously this isn't what you meant, and I know you didn't mean that, though someone could easily misread that.

Hence the wink.

I was simply making light of the wording. Didn't think it would cause you to get defensive... though maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

Anyways, that's me done here, no more derailing on my part.

I am afraid your knowledge of construction of sentences leaves a bit to be desired. If I had put a comma after 1908 then that would be a possible interpretation of it. However, I didn't. It was referring to me having a knowledge of events in 1908 when I heard the Beatles for the first time, which as I had previously mentioned was 1962.

LANA Meisner.
The wife of ex.Eagles bass player Randy Meisner who sang the classic ""Take it to the Limit"" song.

She accidently shot herself in the head moving a firearm whilst cleaning out a cupboard. <doh>

R.I.P.

As you do.....
Stinks to high heaven.

George Martin worked briefly with Burt Bacharach doing a recording of Burt's great 'Alfie' using Priscilla White.
Check it out on You Tube.
