Not when he can come out with stuff like this. He was good for football though.RIP Jim. Why wasnt it Sir Jimmy? It should have been.
He could have been a great manager having taken Coventry up two divisions but left for TV.
Actually he wouldn't have left but Coventry wouldn't give him the long contract he wanted.
Whatever the reason, he left for TV.
Think Jim had so many other things he wanted to do, and did.Maybe, but you made it sound as if he turned his back on Coventry which wasn't the case.
I am old enough to remember it, Chazz. He wanted a long contract, a very long contract, and Coventry weren't prepared to give him it. If they had he would undoubtedly have stayed but they didn't and the opportunity for a change of direction came. Right man in a way , not as many in football were as eloquent as he was and like him or not, he changed the way football was presented and viewed. Coventry really didn't have the potential as a club or a city to progress as far as he would have liked. It is a tribute to the foundations he laid that a previously lower league team in a similarly sized city to Hull remained in the top flight for 34 seasons.Think Jim had so many other things he wanted to do, and did.
rather not thanks, but yes to the sentiment.Bugger him.
Funny that term 'bugger him' or 'bugger me' etc. When I was a kid and being naughty, my parents would say I'd been a 'bugger up the backside'rather not thanks, but yes to the sentiment.
