Not when he can come out with stuff like this. He was good for football though.

In 2004, Hill defended fellow pundit Ron Atkinson over racist comments he had made which were broadcast in the Middle East. Hill was asked whether he thought Atkinson should resign over the comments, to which he insisted it was the "language of the football field". He went on to say "In that context, you wouldn't think that words like ****** were particularly insulting: it would be funny. Without meaning to insult any black men, it's us having fun ... I mean, ****** is black - so we have jokes where we call them ******s because they're black.

He could have been a great manager having taken Coventry up two divisions but left for TV.

Actually he wouldn't have left but Coventry wouldn't give him the long contract he wanted.

Didn't realise he had written "Good Old Arsenal" which he got healthy sized royalties from.

Whatever the reason, he left for TV.

r.i.p Jimmy Hill, one of the few celebs I ever passed in the street in Beverley years ago, think we were playing Fulham and he was passing through for that. A football legend

Maybe, but you made it sound as if he turned his back on Coventry which wasn't the case.

Think Jim had so many other things he wanted to do, and did.

I am old enough to remember it, Chazz. He wanted a long contract, a very long contract, and Coventry weren't prepared to give him it. If they had he would undoubtedly have stayed but they didn't and the opportunity for a change of direction came. Right man in a way , not as many in football were as eloquent as he was and like him or not, he changed the way football was presented and viewed. Coventry really didn't have the potential as a club or a city to progress as far as he would have liked. It is a tribute to the foundations he laid that a previously lower league team in a similarly sized city to Hull remained in the top flight for 34 seasons.

Lord Janner has died. I think I'll refrain from wishing him RIP.

Bad day for the 87-year-olds so far.

Funny that term 'bugger him' or 'bugger me' etc. When I was a kid and being naughty, my parents would say I'd been a 'bugger up the backside' :emoticon-0120-doh:
I really don't think they knew
